Help identify a Rolex crown

I am thinking of buying a vintage Rolex from a private seller, but one thing that bothers me is the crown. Haven't seen one like this before. Can anyone identify it?

Not sure , but I think the crown and the "swiss cross " was used on Tudor watches .

True. It may be a Tudor converted into a Rolex! But that is MHO. Let get the experts in here.

If that's the case, then the movement would be different, right? Something to check on...

Nothing to do with Tudor, mid late 1940s early 1950s genuine Rolex patented crown on watches like bubblebacks.

This is what the seller had in his ad:

semi bubble back w/ gold bezel& crown #6085 #700000=49/50 certified chronometer auto MvT keep good timeOriginal dial center second

He sent some not so great photos, from what I can see it looks to be in reasonably good shape.

He's asking $1450 for the head only. Does that seem like a fair price?

Yes not a bad price but still worth a haggle to get price down a bit.Yes year is correct for a 6085 around 1949/50 with the 1800BPH Cal 645 .Movement parts might be hard to source now but movement very strong and very long lasting.

Looks that way , but could be the angle the picture was taken . It seems to have some nicks on its case back too . But I guess the watch is no longer a spring chicken .
