Looking at the "ft" hummm

Hey there fine gents.....

question...... I just purchased a Y 2003 serial SD and noticed that the 4000 ft = 1220m looks a bit different than the one I saw at the mall today. Double checked some online pictures and I've only seen one that is similar. The " f " does not look as LONG and as curved as it does on most of the SD's I've seen online. Picture attached

Is there a difference in how the " f " should look on some models or am I dealing with a Fake or cheeper model.

Please help ~ losing sleep over here. Much thanks.....

Hi and welclome to TRF!!

I think your SD is pretty genuine. Here's the 'f' on my current Sub-date...

...and the 'f' on my ex: Sea Dweller...

Yes yours does look different. The picture is hard to make out on the one that I posted

The F on my watch is the SAME size as the T. Whereas your F has a longer "tail" and a higher "peak".

Does someone know why this may be???

Don't worry about it....as long as you're confident that yours is the real McCoy!! Rolex does use different dial printers so we get a few tiny variations from time to time.

Cheers - JJ

Yes from about 2000 till 2003 Rolex had a few different dial sources.Rolex now make there own,I some times wonder if the different fonts were a ploy on Rolex part to overcome the counterfeiters

Differences in font and style are common. As padi said Rolex has used dials from various manufactures over the years. The most common were Singer, Beyeler, and Stern.
