What's a Fair Price for a new - unsold 14060M
Non-certified, Non-date Ssubmariner from an authorized rolex Dealer? It's a Z743_ _ _ series. I believe that places it in a 2006 or 2007 range. I've offered $4,000 but the dealer wants more. What do you think?
Thanks and happy holidays. |

Well I believe the list price is $5450, so your offer is a 27% discount, pretty unrealistic at the current time. I think a 15% to 20% discount would be reasonable. Or buy a mint one on here from DavidSW or someone for an even bigger discount for exactly the same thing!

For $4K, I would buy a much rarer COSC version.
I have one and it is one of my favorites watches to wear everyday. IWW applied an anti-reflective coating on the inside of the crystal. |

$4k is a pretty good AD deal for a 14060m (if it's COSC). I got mine from AD here for like USD$4.2k June 2008.
I wear my 14060m COSC nearly 4 days a week. |

They are about $4500 right now at gray dealers so that's one benchmark.

Thank you all.
My logic is that in Oct 2006, the watch retailed for $3,850. Assuming a 30% mark-up, the dealer paid under $3,000. Regardless of the fact that a new COSC lists for $5,450, this is a non-COSC that has been collecting dust in the store display for three years and possibly is due for service. I would think that by now, the dealer would want to move the piece. |

If the dealer didn't take the $4000 then I guess really the question is are you willing to pay more or do you want to keep looking . . . unless they give you a call in the next day or so and say they changed their minds on the offer.

Perfect timing on this topic...I went to two ADs today looking for a ND sub...one AD was unwilling to discount on the retail price at all stating that his corporate orders have told him to not discount on any professional series...so his price on a COSC V-series was retail...5450$....and another AD had one only in stock and his price was $4790 taxes in--out the door price for a COSC..this was in USD...I believe I can get a better deal here in Canada when I factor in the current exchange...

About 7 months ago I bought a BNIB "Z" serial Sub ND COSC for 10% under MSRP from a NY AD. I didnt press to hard and likely could have got a little bit more.

Looking at your screen name, do you own a 1970 Boss 302? I've wanted one for years! |

I too am suprised that the AD has been sitting on this watch for so long and is unwilling to take that offer. It seems to me that it would be in their best interest to clear the piece from their inventory.
I have yet to own a Rolex but am in the market for the very same watch. I am planning on purchasing mine right around the first of the new year. I will be keeping an eye on this thread! |

I think that is a good deal for the both of you. I have purchased 2 ND Subs from my local AD for $3900 both times. Both were Z serials and one was the COSC model and the other wasn't. Best of luck with your search.

I bought a 14060M COSC, all stickers attached for $3600 ... Just remember, it is a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY difficult watch to sell .... so keep that in mind ... unless of course the price is low.... by the way, did I mention it is very tough to sell this watch?
If you pay 4K for a brand new one, you will be lucky to sell it for $3200 ... |

There was a non-COSC 14060M at my AD that I coveted for a while. At the time, I would've loved to pay $4,000 for it, but they wouldn't take more than 5% or 10% off. I had the exact same logic in mind that you do, but no dice!

$4,000 is a fair price. This is a great site and if you're not in a rush, I think someone will work with you. Great people here; just be patient.

A fair price is 1 that both buyer and seller think is fair. Compare verified known sale prices for the last 90 days somewhere in the middle is the fair price. You have to compare the exact same condition item and quantity sold. All buyers want to buy at the lowest price and all sellers want to sell at the highest price. To be fair its somewhere in the middle.

So.... not to beat a dead horse, but if I was to walk into a dealer right now and pay cash for a 14060m M or V serial, what would be a fair offer for me to suggest? And what should I not pay over?? Thanks.

No way I'd pay that much. You can get a much better deal here or on TZ for $4K or less.

There is something nice about buying new from an AD.
But for the $ used is always an option. $4K out the door would be a great price. If you offer say $4500, after a few years, if it is a keeper, will the extra $500 be that much more compared to knowing you are the only owner and you bought it brand new from an AD and your name is on all the paperwork? If it is still under warantee then Rolex should do a free OH if needed. If the pre-owned part is not an issue or if it not a keeper, then buying used is something to think about. Either way, what you feel most comfortable with. Good luck as it is a nice watch! |

I saw a Z non-COSc lightly used for <$3,500 with sellers warranty a little while back.
