This year we stayed home (the first time in many years) and were just with the 3 of us. We watched some TV and Anne made several snacks like little fish cakes made from salmon, olive bread with tapenade and fresh vegetables with prawns. Not a heavy meal, just light snacks. We also had ‘oliebollen’ (Wikipedia) and Champagne. My brother called from Belgium before the rush started and we called (or tried to) our family and friends. I never wear a watch on New Year’s Eve. We watch the clock on the TV. There was lots of firework but that also turned our street into a war zone, what a mess the next day. I went to bed around 2:30 AM, more or less sober

Hey Chip - Paint her orange and teach her the oompa-loompa dance!!
As for NYE, I've been sick for 3 days, so we just laid around until midnight, saw the ball drop, and I stayed up most of the night coughing and watching old Marx Bros movies on TCM. |

We were up at some friends "cabin", up country.
Was around -5 at midnight. Kids were on the lake skating, we were nice & warm by the fire, bottle of chapagne, bottle of fine scotch. ps this so called cabin was 4 levels, around 3,800 sq feet overlooking the lake. North view, the Northern Lights were peaking above the hill in the foreground. Very cool night.

Yes, ignore me. Is that what 2007 will bring me? What will be quicker, a gun or poison?

That Chicken Briyani looks delicious, been a long time since I have had some.
In any case I spent new years eve with 8 of my closest friends with some pizza, fried rice and chicken wings. We had 3 Bottles of Moet & Chandon Brut, 2 Bottles of Martini Asti, on top of that we cracked open the Remy XO and also the Paradis and we also had a few select wines and some Crown Royal too. Needless to say we brought in the new year the right way. Of course we had 3 designated drivers on hand so it was a great and safe time.

We had a quiet night at home. It was just me and the wife.
The dog was there too - he had surgery a couple of days earlier so we needed to keep an eye on him. We watched Alien on the Space channel, then watched the Hamilton coverage of the new year at Niagara Falls. It was pretty good - they had Foreigner play and then Colin James after. |
