Date Just Crown Thought
I tried on the Datejust II today, again. I really want to love this watch, but does anyone else out there think the crown is just too small and out of balance with the rest of the watch? The crown as on the Milgauss would have been a better size. I think if they come out with a Jubilee i might pull the trigger...hopes for Basel

nope. I like the crown as is. Imo if any bigger than as is would look odd "next" to the larger size bezel.
Milgauss is a different story. It does not have an enlarged bezel, therefore a larger crown would look okay on it. |

Saw one today at my AD, but can't say I noticed the crown. I would think that on the larger one, the crown would also be proportionately larger than the one on the regular DJ. I do like the feel of a larger crown myself. However, I do have to say that I tried on quite a few models today. At first glance, the crown on the 34mm Air-King looked small (which is expected on a watch that size). However, in spite of the smaller size, when I handled it, it was just great. Easy to grasp, and of course the winding mechanism smooth as silk, like all Rolexes. It was very smooth in tightening as well.
On Monday, I pick up my Explorer! So I will make sure to look at the DJ II again. Cheers, Carl
