Could you ever do without a Rolex?

Just wondering if any of us will ever "outgrow" a Rolex?

Can you picture yourself owning one for the next 40 years??

A Rolex is the one material item I have ever owned that has had this strong a hold on me and kept my interest 100 percent for this long. I will never go without one.

Before I got my first one...I probably could have gone thru life without it!

Now...not a chance. I own them now...and I'll own them in 40 years (or at least my heirs will!)

Great question Richard! I hope that I never outgrow my two watches. I'm 36 and plan to wear both of them for many years....and I'm sure I will add to the collection at some point.

Thanks to you and Ian (and many others in the pen forum) I'm hooked on Fountain pens too. I think a Rolex is similar to a nice fountain pen....once you own one you must own a few.

I think it's a watch. I love it, don't get me wrong, but it's a watch. I could easily do without it. But, it's awesome to have one.

I can't ever imagine being without my Rolex. However, I do reflect at times and consider the cost of it to be overly lavish and perhaps foolish in comparison to the other things that I could have done with the money.

I will always have a Rolex or two in my collection, but I would never just own Rolex watches either.

I've tried not to part with them over the years but to pay bills, down payment on homes, get out of debt etc. has taken its toll. Like my Harley's I just have to have at least one at all times and find myself going back.

Over the last 25 years I've owned at least 5 subs and had to sell them for one reason or another. We had hard times and good times, but I will from now on always have at least one Rolex and one Harley (09 Ultra) and BMW bike (2009 R1200RT).

The selling to buy something else is over and my final Rolex will be my GMT IIC but I am scouting for a older Pepsi.

It's not whether or not I could do without a Rolex, but whether or not I could do without a watch!

I think I could do without a Rolex... if I had an IWC

I bought my first in 1994 (16 years now) and have never been without one. So, the answer is a resounding "no"...
