EBAY purchase gone bad.

I thought the " Watch out " section would be best for this post.

I purchased a vintage Tudor Submariner on ebay last month. The watch had several fake parts including the bracelet and crown. I suspect other parts are fake as well, but have not confirmed this.

I contacted the seller the day the package arrived, and noted the unacceptable condition of the item. He is not working with me.

Since then, I have opened a " case " in ebay stating the item had fake parts, and was not as described, and that I expect a full refund. Several days later, there is no reply from the seller.

I am confident that I will recover the funds, as I paid with paypal and used a credit card.

I read I may be better off finding a third party to inspect the watch, and give a written statement on the items condition for the ebay case. Any thoughts on who may be able to do this ? My local Ad perhaps ? Local watchmaker ?

Any vintage Tudor experts out there ? ( Washington state )

Thanks TRF

An AD should be enough.

Good luck but I think you are covered under your fraud protection it just might take a few months to get your funds. Have your credit card freeze the transaction so you do not accrue interest on it.

I don't know Tudor or vintage but I think there should definitely be a seal on that triple lock crown.

My thoughts exactly on the crown. The Tudor of this period did not come with a triple lock crown. If it were to be changed, it would not look like the one pictured. I think a fake was dissected and parts were used. Hence the nasty 93150.

IMO even though a claim has been logged with ebay you should immediately lodge a dispute with Paypal as well, as this is where your refund will come from.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. A lesson for all here that if in doubt, let us have a look before you buy .

Thanks for the information guys. Up to date, I am dealing with a case in ebay which is slowly dragging out. I opened a claim in paypal resolution center recently. I'll update this thread when I know more.

The band is counterfeit - the end links are not Rolex and the stampings on the band are incorrect also. It should just have the 93150 stamp. The winding crown appears genuine along with the tube.

john said it. the band and end pieces is counterfeit. but the crown, it's good.
it is a 24-702 crown post-72.your case back looks fine on that angle.
could you share a picture of the dial. the minute hand without a reference
appears good. take the band off and open the back. the model appears to be
a 94011 see if the case back is marked 9401 or 9411 look at the movement
the movement should be a 2483 eta (look under the balance wheel) take some
pictures off the numbers inbetween the lugs. and if you just want to be completely sure on the movement.
get a watchmarker to remove your dial and there will be a
name and city name and a movement # stamped into the movement plate just
under the dial. what does the bottom of the dial say? i don't know what you paid,
but a 9401 is seen less that the date model>>9411/0 or 94110
