How to SERIOUSLY watch NFL football....

A friend of mine put an addition on to his house.... DEDICATED to NFL football. I'm not kidding. He had 8 (count em, EIGHT) Flatscreens on the wall. Oh, and three rows of POWERED-LEATHER Recliners.... Behind the room, he has barbecue going continiously, with food.... food... and more food. It's great to have friends!

Oh, and yes, that IS a flatscreen in the bathroom.... just to make sure you don't miss anything when you have to go...

If he built an addition, why did he put this in the garage?

Wouldn't one BIG wide screen setup (maybe with projection) have more impact!! I think I'd get a headache trying to watch all those screens.

Each screen has it's own game on, it does get confusing when someone yells "Yeah!" or "$:&$!" You have to do a scan of all the screens to see which game they are talking about!

That's not too bad.

The last season the NFL had the regular Sunday games (prior to Fox), my Dad and I went to NYC to watch in the press room at Rockefeller Center.

That room had a myriad of screens, with the game of the week in a very large screen in the center. Each seat was like the one in your friend's house, but there was a knob that would let you select the audio for a given screen for your headset.

Also, the feeds were raw satellite, so you saw and heard during commercial breaks. It was fascinating to hear the sportscasters getting the information fed to them and figuring out the detailed information that permits them to be so on top of who just did what.

Got a tour of all the facilities - there are rows of tables with guys who are responsible for annotating a single game. They watch intently and have all the details.

We met the studio anchors too. That year it was Cris Collinsworth, Sam Wyche, and Joe Gibbs.

Needless to say I won't be showing this thread to my husband or to my NFL-fanatic sons!

We subscribed to Direct TV last year only to get the NFL mix channel, as our cable did not carry it. There is a split screen feature that shows something like 8 games at once. My kids loved watching that.
