Straps Tubes Question???

Hi, I have 4 OEM straps for my PAM 104. I see a lot of post discussing the straps having tubes. My question is are they necessary, do they have a purpose, ie. ease of motion, extension of strap life etc. I am curious if I should be looking for some tubes to put in my straps. Any responses to clarify would be appreciated.

Good question. Tubes are most important on PAM's with the "screw in" strap changing system. The tubes prevent the strap from gripping the screw and backing it out. Keeps your PAM on your wrist and not the floor.

Eric, the strap that comes on the watch when purchased will have tubes. I've seen OEMs both ways, but the tubes should be used.

If you buy spare straps - especially OEM - they will likely NOT come with Tubes. A local AD told me Panerai won't allow them to stock parts. Strange.

You can get spare tubes, screws etc. at http://panatime.com/scallsc.html

Yep. That's usually the case. I did see a couple new OEMs yesterday at the GTG that had tubes. They were the exception, but I thought it interesting.

right, Bill's and Mike's posts made me to get off my fat arse to check my OEM Croc (currently on the 000).... and was very pleased to see the tubes fitted - lucky me.

im sure most of you knew that PAM000 usually comes with black calf strap, but my AD was kind enough to swap it free of charge and has totally transformed the watch - i love it

Well we can get some Panerai parts from the local Richemonet Service Center. I'm getting a spare set of the quick change strap pins for my 243. Thot it will be useful coz you don't see those on the aftermarket.

The Panerai boutiques carry parts such as pins, screws and tubes.

If you're here in NYC, the Tourneau Time Machine does too

While OEM straps do not come with tubes, my local boutique gives them to you with the purchase

I have some with tubes and some don't. I'm not sure why that's the case... But it's just that way...

So even if my PAM 104 has the new quick changing system...is it sill prudent to get some tubes?
