Second hand stuck after setting time !

My Subs only a week old and today when I corrected the time and pushed the crown in the second hand stayed motionless, pulled crown out again and back in after two attempts it kicked back into life !

Should I be concerned as it's working fine now ?

Outwardly it would not appear that there is anything to be concened about..

A Rolex is a mechanical watch and not a circuit board and so when you engage the gears, if they are at torque, or a pinion hasn't fully engaged, it will not work until that friction is relieved..

It is pretty common with any machinery that uses gears and torque..

True and I agree on your points, think I may have just panicked on the offset.

Guess it's like anything mechanical needs a certain amount of bedding in.

The only time that a balance will not re-start from the setting position is when the balance is stopped in the zero position ie when it is at its rest position (not when the hands are at zero!). Were you to have stopped the balance in any other position it would have either been wanting to return to zero or receiving an impulse from the pallets. Your re-setting and trying again would not work as the balance was still at rest! Only a shake or twist would start it. I doubt if you can replicate this. IMHO an escapement/balance never requires 'bedding-in' Regards, Tylden.

Not unless it regularly happens! Perhaps you could have it checked at a service centre (center) to make sure it is not way off beat - like a pendulum wall clock that is not upright by several degrees! Other than that enjoy it. Tylden.

It's late (22:28 is late for me!) so I'm off to bed so no more from me tonight. Tylden.
