Hello Forumers , We got to have some " Perpetual Date " owners In here so i thought lets dedicate a thread to the " Date " model new and vintage, wrist pics , stand alone pics , opinions and reviews.

What's the difference between a Date and a Datejust? I have a Datejust with a fluted bezel that otherwise looks like the one pictured above.

Difference is 34mm>36mm

But I'm 90% sure your DJ does not have a smooth bezel , one of the things I love about the Date not to many ( Rolex Replicas with a smooth bezel , mostly fluted bezels ) giving the Date model a more authentic genuine stand in the watch world ..... Myself I despise Replicas......

I owned a a SS Date 15200. I didnt like it very much. I just didnt get that "Damn, I'm wearing a Rolex feel." So I sold it and got my DJ 16013.

I have a 15053 TT 1982 Date with the engine turned bezel jubilee band. I also have a DJ and I can feel the difference between the weight and look on the wrist. The DJ seems to have a greater presence.

OK, here's an earlier pix of mine...a 15037, solid 14K gold, purchased new at Bucherer in Lucerne in '88...

and now it's current dial...same watch...

and strolling down memory lane...my very first Rolex, bought in '76 through the mail (when you could do that) from Bucherer in Switzerland...cost? $276. Sold in 2006 for $2200 with extra dials & Jubliee bracelet and original boxes and papers. This was a 1500/0 non quickset model.

Here is my wife's OP Date from 1978. It has an acrylic crystal and non-quickset movement. The gray dial is what I like best. We recently swapped the SS dome bezel for a 18K fluted bezel.

My Date model from 1987, acrylic and quickset with romans. It also has what they refer to as the "Engine turned bezel"
I have not seen this combination often. I'm also the original owner! It shares the rotation with a TT Datejust and a GMT 16750.

The OP Date is a great watch! Here is my 1971 1500, it is my first Rolex (got it from my parents in 1997). Still have it and it is one of my favorites

The watch was small 34mm. I thought it was alittle feminine for me and I wanted the DJ because it was a little bigger and more masculine with the fluted bezel. Thats just my opinion maybe others feel different. I like my DJ 100X better! Plus the DJ is the basis for every other Rolex Model. The DJ is the cornerstone of Rolex.

Good idea starting this thread. Seeing quite a few beautiful ones.
I like the Perpetual Dates a lot and have two.

This is a 1500 from around 1964. Its definitely my favorite of the two,
because of the hands

And this is my 15000 from around 1983/1984.
