it is a 5.3mil serial so 1977 should be correct.

Hello Frogman4me!
What an awesome finding!!

ItŽs truly a one of a kind example of a vintage 1680.
Mine was bought brand new in February 1977, and turned in a venerable vintage on my wrist, during all these years of daily wearing.

To look at your photos is a way of remembering how it looked that day of February 1977 I strapped it to my wrist for the first time!

Enjoy your watch in good health, and thanks for sharing!

Best cordial regards, Abel.

Thank you David! IŽm glad you like it.
Yes, it has been a wonderful companion for many decades, and always a faithful one.
It never failed me, and I sent it twice for service to the local Official Rolex Service.
Last service was last year, and only required change of plexi, tube, new seals, and lubrication.
Otherwise, it keeps all original.
I wish youŽll get lots of years of faithful service from your beautiful watch!
Best cordial regards, Abel.

Are you going to wear a NOS 1680 like that? How much did you pay?

Great watch. Tell the truth, you really jumped into the DeLorean and went back to 1977 to pick it up.

Beautiful pickup!! But I'm definitely in the camp that says keep it a safe queen. If you ever should nick it, it will feel as if you've been physically stabbed.

Do whatever it takes to get another 1680 for daily wear. NOS should stay that way!!

I would never buy a watch and keep it in safe--not a chance! Every watch gets worn or they don't get bought! They were built to enjoy so have at it! I am sure you will have lots of great years breaking her in as I know you well my friend!! Again--what a looker!
