Vintage Thunderbird question

Do any of you know if the Thunderbird was made in all steel, with jubilee bracelet, and salmon color dial? I've seen the salmon dial on Air Kings, but don't know much about the Thunderbirds....

For that matter, please share your Thunderbird pics if you got 'em. It would be most educational to see some of the dial options.

Yes on the all steel [I'm almost positive] and jubilee [that I am sure of]. Not sure about the salmon dial though. It would make a great looking vintage on your wrist Lisa. Love the T Bird.

Thanks, guys. I'll keep looking. I think our local guy can put a salmon dial on a steel Thunderbird with jubilee bracelet, but I want to be sure such a combination actually existed.

The case may be steel, but the bezel is always gold (white or yellow).

Here are mine...

6609 (1958)

1625 (1962)

Adam, mine looks like the 1625 but mine is from 1998 I think. Love it.

A salmon dial would look stunning on an ss thunderbird. If I pick up a date/airking/datejust It'll definitely be with a salmon dial.

Agreed. I've had a blue, white and black dials... I'd love to have a salmon dial next, and the Thunderbird would be a lovely possibility. As long as such a thing really exists.

I have spotted a salmon dial on a newer Thunderbird - with oyster bracelet. We're getting closer.

So - it's not accurate to assume that any SS DJ dial option was also available on the Thunderbird, right? I suppose the T-bird had its own, rather limited, dials.

I think they were available with any kind of dial just like the datejust. I had a blue roman dial version some time ago which i still regret selling to this day!! I'm just thinking of the variations I have seen and come across over time and there are many variations

Hello Lisa!
As told by Adam, the "TOG" or "T Bird" have never been made in all steel version.
Case was gold or steel, but always with a white or gold bezel.
White gold bezel can be confused with steel, anyway, and give the impression of an all steel watch.

I can show you my Model 6609, c.1956 with yellow gold case and bezel, pearl dial, and also
my 1625 with steel case and yellow gold bezel, black dial. c. 1966.

Never seen a salmon dial, but may be you refer to a champagne dial?

TOG and T Birds, are interesting, beautiful and underated models, in my point of view.
Hope you get a nice example for your collection!
Best cordial regards, Abel.

Great looking watches, I love the old-style TOGs. I passed on a 1625 because I didn't like the tiny crown. Is the 6609 crown larger? It looks to be in the photos.

Abel, I do believe we have the very same taste in watches. You own very beautiful examples, too. Thanks for clarifying about the bezel. I guess like the DJ with fluted bezel, it's either white or yellow gold.

I have seen the champagne dial, and a salmon dial with roman numerals just recently. At any rate, the search will be a lot of fun.

The 1625 sports its original bracelet (dated 1962); the 6609 now has a USA Jubilee that I added (the original was reportedly a very stretched Swiss Jubilee).

Hi Saxon! Thank you! Both crowns are same size, and same as in DJ.
Cordial regards, Abel.

Hello Lisa! Thank you! I´m glad we have similar tastes about timepieces, and that you liked my examples.

A salmon dial with roman numerals, sounds like a gorgeous look indeed.
I wish you find one soon!
Cordial regards, Abel.
