Yacht-Master II two-tone

My AD notified me that the new Yacht-Master II two-tone rose gold will be retailing for $24,800. No word from her yet on the new Daytona or Explorer II.

While initially I was attracted to the new Yacht-Master II, at that price, I'll take a pass. A solid gold Day-Date retails for a bit more, and that can be had with a decent discount. Is it me, or does this price seem way out of line when compared with other two-tone models? I know the movement is special, but to me, it's not $10k more special than a two-tone Daytona.

Oh well... I guess it makes my planning for future purchases easier!

For some strange reason, I really like the rose gold. If the YMII was offered in solid rose gold, I probably would bite from one of our trusted sellers!

I think $24,800 is crazy for the YM II TT. For a little more (in terms of list price) you could get a solid gold DD, Sub, GMT, YM etc. I don't think they're going to sell many at that price.

I think that it's a good business move on Rolex part..

The new TT price is $10,000 under the cheapest gold model so they should see sales of the YM II skyrocket with a greatly reduced price...

Looks to me that it's pitched at a very interesting price level - for that kind of money, possible alternatives would be a new WG Blue Sub, full gold Daytona or President.

All beautiful watches but if I had the money, I'd probably pick the YMII...

I Disagree Larry,25K for a TT watch is way too Much(IMO) if the OP'S Source is correct.

For that money I predict the TT to be a very, very slow seller.

I'm guessing the price is so high relative to other TT models (and close to that of other all gold models) on purpose. Maybe Rolex just can't produce or service large numbers of the YM II movement?

I'm still not sure it makes much sense though. I would guess that most people who can pay $25k for a watch can also pay $35k and if they want a YM II may as well go all gold.

So it's a different equation I think than most TT vs. gold prices - there are a lot more potential buyers at around $10k than at around $25k so the pricing on TT vs. gold Subs etc. makes more sense to me.

Perhaps that's why Rolex introduced the first TT YMII in rose gold... it's not available as a solid rose gold alternative?

Looking at the 9/2010 price list, where offered, it seems TT models are priced near half or less than their solid gold counterparts (e.g., Daytona TT $14,750, YG $29,500, WG $32,050, PG $32,050; GMTII TT $10,875, YG $27,200; SUB TT $11,250, YG $28,850, WG $31,350).

Regardless, I've lost interest. There are too many others that tickle my fancy at that price point!

I think that's way too much for a tt watch. I really liked it and was thinking it'd be in the 15K range. Oh well....out of reach for me now.

Yes I agree . . . if I wanted to spend that much on a watch, it wouldn't be on a TT YMII. A little more for a DD or YG Sub makes more sense to me.

$24800 for the TT YMII is way over the top, IMO.
I'd rather pay abit more and get the soild gold version.

I agree, though the YG version is $35,900 and the WG is $40,400. (Surely the premium on the WG version has something to do with the platinum bezel...?)

I haven't priced them, but I suspect good discounts can be had. I can't see these moving too fast.

Those are MRSP, try the Trusted Sellers here and you'll be very surprised. I think you'll be able to get a deal less ~30%

Just to bring this thread back, I was at my AD yesterday and tried on the TT YM2. I don't like it in pictures, but it is an absolute stunner in person. The rose gold looks amazing with the blue. I tried it on and fell in love. The kicker, however, is that it retails at 26K Canadian. That is just ridiculous for a watch that is TT.

Anyways, just thought I would share that. It is bad to the bone in person. Just way overpriced. Should have snapped a wristshot but forgot.

As most have stated the price seems a bit steep for a TT watch but I am very interested in seeing this watch in person. I think it is going to look stunning but way to expensive for my taste. I would rather get an all gold watch for about the same price.

If you have the money, you may as well go for it!

The YMII is in a different league mechanically and in beauty (for me) compared to other rolex (no offence intented guys).

I will also be getting the WG YMII or the IWC portugueses perpetual calender in December..whatever your decision, good luck with it!!
