5513 question
I posted a thread a few weeks ago about a mid 70's 5513 meters first I was going to purchase, but what I discovered through posting the thread was meters first was not available in the year based on the SN. I t/t the seller to clarify and in fact the original ff was replaced with mf dial. I love the watch but question is, how much more/less should I pay? asking price is $3,800
thank you! |

Would have to see pictures of the watch and get a few more details....
5513s are NOT uncommon....I think it easier in the long run to find a "correct" example with no issues... The price seems low...And I would ask myself why??? |

A MF 5513 for 3800 seems fishy IMHO

The seller is disclosing to you that it was originally a feet first dial, therefore it is probably priced properly considering that the case year and dial do not match.
However, if it is otherwise in good condition and all the parts are genuine Rolex then there is nothing wrong with paying that price (which is a steal) and enjoying your new vintage sub....My ![]() |

It all depends on the condition of the watch. You'll find many watches from that era do not have their original dial or hands. They may not be collectible, but they certainly are not worthless.

I wonder why someone would remove a F/F dial and install a M/F dial??

Most likely would garner a higher sales price to an unsuspecting buyer....$3,800 is still is a good price for this watch if all else is original or 100% Rolex. From what I've seen on dial pricing a flip of the dial back to proper F/F could net back a nice little return after selling the M/F dial.

Thanks for the input guys! The seller and I have been talking on/off and I'm going to physically check the watch out the watch. The price is $3800 because it's the head only, no bracelet. I'll let you know the outcome a little later this week.
