My Rolex AD received this white dial Explorer 2 last week.
I think it is the one for me since my all of my other sports watches have black dials |

This past weekend I got an e-mail from one of my good buddies on this forum that he has joined the dark side on the 216570 and as much as we have traded e-mails and calls discussing various timepieces I must commend him on facing the fact that the black dial 216570 will be a force to be reckoned with, if history on the 1655 serves true then us black dial 216570 owners are in great company! Congrats sir and we will be looking forward to the customary wrist pics!

Tomorrow; arrival expected today, but it got delayed.
Pretty excited as I've wanted a current model, yet not wild about either PCL or maxi cases... so that left me out. When I saw this release, I was darn sure this one would be on my wrist eventually. With the wider diameter the thick lugs look proportioned to my eye... so now I can enjoy the newer style bracelets which I do like.

Thank you John! I think I have done enough enabling on TRF to help promote the 216570 to folks! I hope everyone will get the opportunity to pick one up and enjoy it as much as me and the rest of the 216570 owners out there!

OK, now I've had a few days with this baby and I'm really, really diggin' it. Great legibility, big everything, best lume short of tritium and an under-the-radar look that doesn't shout "Rolex," or at least not too loudly. I have smallish 6.5-inch wrists and it wears somewhat large but no problem at all. To me, the bezel markings are laid back, not full-time in your face like the GMTc and the radial grind puts on a small, ever-changing light show that is borderline hypnotic. IMO it could very possibly be a one-watch solution for anyone capable of such restraint. Really nice watch...
Rolex heavily promoted this watch in white, way more than the black dial. As you can see, I didn't let that stop me... Sam requested some pics for this thread so here they are, with more to come. Sorry, no wristies. Enjoy... Cheers! Jim |

I havn't seen the new Expo 2 in the metal as yet but looking at some of these excellent photos I have noticed two things I'm not to sure about.
On the black dial the hands are different. Less lume than the white with the centre painted gloss black. They look to be a different finish to the dial its self. ? And I also noticed the orange hand is above the hour hand in the stack obscuring the time. On the original orange Explorer the 24 hour hand was below the hour hand. And in my opinion giving better legibility to the current time.

Sorry for repeat comment from another thread, but I just wanted to hear what others thought:
I want a black one, but I wish the hands were the width of the new SubC, not so flipping fat. They hide half the dial! They almost had this watch perfect ... arghh |

Same response as ur other. Half the dial? An excessive exaggeration of reality. Black or white = stunning
