Welcome to TRF. If you're into TT watches, then get yourself the new TT GMT-II for that kind of cash. You won't regret it. Good luck - JJ

Breitling makes some attractive watches, but from what I hear around town is that they just don't hold up like a Rolex. I have also heard some horror stories about TAG watches. I'm sure somebody who has survived a underwater nuclear explosion at close range will chime in and tell us that TAG and Breitling are much more durable than an anvil.....
Also, neither brand keeps consistency of design like Rolex. I don't know how to say it properly, but a Rolex (aside from Cellini models) is instantly recognizable as a Rolex. To my eyes, there's just no other watch as visually appealing as a Rolex. That may be why Rolex tends to have such good resale value. Am I prejudiced? Yes, I am. In my 41 years, I have never had a watch other than Rolex or Tudor that would last a full year. I work too hard for my money to buy anything else, even though there are other watches I like to look at. $8K would buy a TT Submariner with plenty if change left over. The SS/Plat Yachtmaster looks great, as does the TT Jubilee Turn-O-Graph. That amount of money also puts you within striking range of a TT Daytona (SS Daytonas are fantastic, but you can actually GET the TT versions a lot easier). As long as you don't get the Tiger striped DJ or the Leopard Daytona, or the HIDEOUS Dayglow Daytona...ya just can't miss with a Rolex! Rawhyde |

SS Daytona if you can get it, and at MSRP!
That will leave you 10 bucks for a lollipop
