The Plastic is back! 5512 back from RSC

Just picked up my 5512 from my AD on Saturday! They sent to Rolex New York for service. They changed the crystal, crown, and serviced the movement. It was running about 5 minutes slow in one hour! They recomended a new bracelet which I declined and kept the original. I had given specific instructions not change the dial, bezel insert, and no polish. They honored all my instructions and I'm well pleased! Now for the manditory wrist shot!

Gorgeous 5512 you have there

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take RSC to get back the watch to you?

Wow! I didn't realize the RSC would service Matte dial 5512s anymore.

(I always send my watches to my trusted independent watchmaker)

It was done at the previous service in 1989. I guess I should have found some that would match the dial patina before the service. Thanks

Beautiful. Did you have to negotiate the servicing? I thought RSC's are starting to decline older models.

No, not really. I just asked the AD if they could have it serviced. She said they would send it in to see what was needed. Worked out great. I asked about service on my 16660 Matt dial too. She said they could do it too!

I have the same watch in need of servicing...my ad suggested all the same servicing you've had done at a cost of $1100...mind asking what this set you back ?

I'm not 03cobraa, but RSC NY just overhauled my 5513. I paid $600 which included a new crown and tube. RSC suggested a new bracelet, dial and hands which I declined.

Yup, RSC NY will still service the old Subs but will always recommend changing everything: dial, hands, insert, polish, etc ... As long as you make it very clear what you don't want changed _ and make sure they write it on the paperwork _ you should be fine. Movement service only is about $550-$600, but they'll insist on a replacement crystal or they won't service the watch because of the mandatory pressure test. So, if you have an old superdome crystal you want to keep on the watch you'll need to go elsewhere, or have one installed by someone else after the movement service. Good luck!

The complete service was $675.00.
This included a new crystal, crown, and movement service.
