That is very very cool. However, I am curious to hear some of the experts chime in regarding the asking price.....Is there a demand at that high a price or is that just what they go for these days?

Need crisper pics of the case back. Normally, the Comex full sets come with significant documentation for provenance purposes. This appears to be missing that.

The guy is legit and a friend , he is a long standing collector wIth a liking for full minty sets! ... He has a once in a lifetIme property opportunity hence the sale of a few bits

The watch is totally legit and
Truly nos , which is rare in itself plus it's a rare reference.

I'm no Rolex expert, but as an active user (selling and buying) on ebay since 1998, the details provided in the description of such a high-end item are sorely lacking.

The seller should be going out of his way to anticipate any questions that might arise from potential bidders and provide that information in the description. This is obviously a grail piece, and since all sales are final as per the listing, I'd expect a more proactive approach on the seller's part, in regard to providing as much information as possible about this specufic piece Close-up pics are a must as well.

This is great to hear! Hope it ends up with an appreciative buyer :)

Andrew is correct about the watch,
The eBay listing is more for exposure of the watch. I'm 99% sure the deal will not go down via eBay. He's a VRF member and has some amazing watches.
He also has NOS 16600 Comex watch for sale as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-COMEX-...item3376430038

That would be enough of a character reference for me...I'd go for it, if I had that sort of yenom to spend.

120K who will tell . . .
To be honest . . . even if I win the lottery . . . I won't spend 120K on one watch . . .
But I didn't win it yet . . .
So who knows . .

And finally if we have the money . . . what's 120K . . . ;-)

HAGWe

BTW : for that amount I am sure that I can get my name printed on the dial :-)

John Meyer has that change laying around his apartment. I hate to say it but money is never an issue with the high end collector. A used Ferrari for me :)

Good point, there are those out there who spend this sort of cash in a day and don't think twice about it.

It might be a novelty to have a Comex Rolex SD that hasn't touched water.

It seems the 16610 Comex were mainly issued to their admin seniors but the SDs were for the divers.
