Since I'll be without my 14060 for the next few weeks while it's getting serviced I'm thinking of picking one of these up. Might make a great beater!
So what's the deal with these? I see a lot of them around. What's all the stuff on the face (aside from the time/date)? |

That's a GW7900B, so its atomic solar, with tide graph and moonphase.
The circle on the left is the moonphase, the center "chart" is the tide graph, and to the right is a graphic representation of timing.

Hah, I just bought the same one! I liked it because of being solar powered and the atomic (radio receiver in it) appealed to me especially. It will be a nice watch to toss around, and for now it's something to wear on my wrist until mine comes back from RSC.

This watch has defintely started to grow on me. I really like it. As a volunteer firefighter I don't have to worry too much about it taking abuse, plus the light-up function at night is really useful. When my 14060 comes back from RSC, I think I'll keep this in the rotation a bit more and will wear it at drill.

G-Shocks are the Rolex of the tool watch category. It's no beater. It's its own beast. For all the talk about a Rolex being a special kind of watch, G-Shock beats it in almost every category, especially in price. A Rolex is jewelry. A G-Shock is an instrument.
