Newbie

New guy here. I don't own a Rolex but I've wanted one for a long time. I though this was a good place to start. I'm going to look local first but I figured I'd do my research first.

I admit I'm a bit tight which is why I am still without one.

Welcome to TRF

It is only hard to part with that hard-earned money the first time...after that it gets really easy!

Welcome. Check out the sales corner - some reasonable deals to be had on new and used models.

Welcome to TRF! Enjoy the hunt. Putting all that money down for a watch is hard the first time.

I remember second guessing myself for a day or two.

Thanks all. I'll be reading for a good bit unless I get lucky. LOL

Tell me if I should follow my initial desire or if it's best for a novice to stay away from the vintage watches?

I generally prefer vintage. The new watches are simply beautiful, but I've seen a few people list watches from the 40's and I really like them. Are they more problem prone? I don't say this as it seems as a generalization they are less expensive but I really do generally like the more vintage watches.

Less likely to run into fakes? I wouldn't purchase anything right now without running it in front of someone far more knowledgeable than I.
