The owner of that truck must be trying to make up for some small "assets" that he has.

By my calculations it would cost about 77 euros to do 62miles of highway driving with that baby in Finland.

As someone who races and offroads, this just looks obnoxious due to it's painful lack of utility and function in relation to it's design.

A painful attempt at "look at me" is all I see that sacrifices safety, fuel economy, etc.

If you could share, I'd be curious as the point or the why people build these....maybe I could understand/respect these things when me(most people) see them and shake our heads in embarrassment for the owner and people riding in them.

In any event, I guess everyone has different tastes, so, to each their own.

It's his toy, he takes it rock climbing.

Some buy watches, some buy expensive cars.

His hobbies are motorcycle racing (dirt bike) and rock crawling/climbing.

It's not something he drives on the street on daily bases.

The truck had electric, retractable side steps, but they were in the shop for some "upgrades".

Here is how the loading worked... (that's me helping my wife get in)

He hardly ever drives it. It's just a toy he has.

I cannot even imagine spending 300 at the pump for a fill up.

It is an awesome truck for sure! Like you I wouldn't want to pay for it to be filled up.

Love it. A lot of buddies I have back in AL have trucks running 37.5s to 44s. A few have swamp buggies with tractor tires that are incredible. The coolest truck I know is this 84 suburban that has 2 blown 454 big blocks (one in the front one in the back). Makes me miss my lifted Yukon I had in high school.

Amen to that. A boat that only burns gas that like would be a small ski boat. Filled up our boat for the last time this summer 2 weekends ago. Still had in between 1/2-1/4 tank and it still took 315 gallons to top it off. 550 gallons capacity between the 3 saddle tanks and the main tank. The original owner added another 150 gallon tank to increase the range . At cruise I get around 1.2-1.3 MPG. With it wide open we get about 0.8-0.75 mpg. So about 40 gallons/hour at cruise and about 70 gallons/hr wide open. A lot worse than that truck and our boat isn't really that big. Only 33' and it's a center console. That's much better than a large sports fisherman that burns 250-300 gph at cruise.

How common are large trucks like that in TX? Do you see them daily or is it a rarity?
Here, the law allows only I believe a 4 inch lift!

I used to have a Chris-Craft with a big block... I was 17 when I had it, sold it as 19, as the fuel bills were not sustainable. Back then Fuel was about 6 FIM/liter (1 euro/liter) Today it's double that, so no thanks.
