I tend to wear a different watch every day, and I don't use a winder. So it really doesn't matter whether it is auto or manual wind.

I actually do like the process of setting and winding a watch in the morning. It's just another way to connect with the watch and it's another part of the fun really.

I love the feeling of being connected to the watch that only a manual wind can give you.

Manual winds are too much of a chore to wind everyday or every couple of days. Now winding my PAM 233K once a week or so is not a chore at all. Gotta love the 8 days manual wind movement.

If the movement is nice & smooth to wind, with a decent power reserve, then great. But there's not much joy to be had in cranking up, say, an ETA 6497/8 every other day. So I would say it depends on the movement. Also, resetting complications is not always fun, especially if you are in a hurry. Perhaps I'm just too impatient for a complicated manual wind watch

8 days sounds great and very impressive but I kind of like the idea of winding the watch everyday as well, different strokes for different folks I guess!

Believe me my friend, I've had to reset complications on an automatic watch I wasn't wearing that often a lot of times and it's a lot of fun, you have to try it at least once!

You're right Carl - I should just set aside the time to do it, rather than rush, then enjoy the satisfaction of getting everything set up correctly

I guess I'm in the minority. I hate having to reset watches and wind them when I want to switch off. I have one manual wind - a vintage Corum dress watch - which stays in the watch box 99.99% of the time. Everythin else I own is an automatic and they all stay on winders until I want to switch off from my all black GMT-II, which isn't that often.

I only like manual-wound watches when the crown is non-screw-down type. I originally thought I'd hate to hassle with winding up the watch every morning, but then it turned out I have no problems with that. I love my Speedmaster 145.022, it's fun to wind it every day -- it builds a sort of connection between the watch and the wearer.

Believe it or not, I have to charge the battery in my 28-year-old motorcycle before I ride. Winding my 6424 is just pre-ride therapy, adds to the anticipation.

I much prefer hand wound watches. Here's my favorite hand wound, my F.P. Journe.

In general, absolutely not. However, I think you can have too much of a good thing.

I love my manual 14k lord Elgin. I think manual winds are great.

But I feel as busy as I get I would constantly forget to wind my watch if I'm rotating others depending on what I'm doing.

Anyone actually regret buying a manual wind? I feel like buying a little Stowa or something to see if I'll remember to wind it on time.

I know it takes minimal time and I swear I'm not as lazy as I sound. Just forgetful and extremely busy.
Put a reminder in your phone for every two days, and then wind it when the reminder goes off...

That's called cheating!

I hate winding and setting watches also, with the possible exception of being able to purchase a Phillip Dufours Simplicity, I'll never own one.

My only manual wind watch is my classic Omega Speedmaster Professional, the "moon watch". I wind it nightly before going to bed. It is a dream and winding it is a pleasure. Cheers, Bill P.

Love my manual JLC! There´s something special about winding a nicely made movement. The perfect resistance in the crown, sound and feel of it. :)

I love manual winds. Typically they offer spectacular views of their inner workings without a rotor obstructing the view .

A power reserve indicator is a big plus IMO.
