I can tell you that my new I5 is much better than my year old Samsung (android) and doesn't have all of the technical glitches, dropped calls, etc.

Much smoother, glitch free, better battery and just flat works. In that regard, much like a Rolex.

I haven't had a problem with my maps, but I use them about 0.05% of the time compared to everything else I use the phone for. That's why the car has a gps in it!

After having iPhones 3GS, 4 and 4S I changed 2 months ago to a Samsung Galaxy S3 using my wife's upgrade. Knowing that in a couple of months I could use my upgrade for the iPhone 5, I got the new iPhone on Saturday and will use it for a month, then make my decision as to which phone to sell. After using the iPhone 5 since Saturday, if I had to make my decision now, the iPhone 5 would be sold in a heartbeat, and I must admit, I cant see me changing my mind, iOS has not really been even refreshed since I got my 3GS, I never thought I would hear myself say this but IMHO, Apple have dropped the ball.

Just for completeness, I have an iPad a Mac Book Pro, Apple TV, 2 iPod classics and a 1TB Time machine, all of which work flawlessly and I love em, so I could hardly be called an Apple hater.

Not an iPhone user. Never have, never will.
Rolex is not a religion. Apple is.

I disagree. It is a personal choice/preference. Just like your choice(s) of Rolex watches.

Sounds like any other mass produced phone out there in the world then.

Manuu, so how long have you worked in the Apple store
Please don't take that wrong, but in reading through this thread you appear to be apples biggest cheerleader. The older I get the more I try to stay away from "opinion based" discussions, but they are entertaining to read through

Ouch .. Apple store employee! How 'bout isheep, mactard .. Anything else I missed ?

Really if u wanna stay away from "opinion based" discussions, its probably not going to be easy on TRF. Most of the threads here are opinion based.

So I posted some performance analysis done by experts ( anandtech ). Do you have anything to comment about those non opinion based numbers ?

Very interesting reports and specs thanks Manu. I am certainly enjoying the 5. It's performance is simply. outstanding. Much of my work is completed using it. Everyone I have let play with it, and that includes Samsung S3 users have agreed it's a marked improvement on the 4S.

I think the S3 is a great phone. Played with plenty and can see why it works for my friends and colleagues who've gone that way. I don't need to knock them.

Each to their own. But my phone is constantly used for business and it has already proved an exceptional performer.

There are many on here who have commented without knowing anything about the 5 in real day to day terms. Those that have and still prefer their initial android choice are clearly stating that platform works for them.

I wouldn't demean them because of that. I have no need.

The iPhone 5 is definitely very fast with the new chip. Real world use is also very fast. Tried it vs a iPhone 4S.

But the irony is that Apple diehard fanboys don't care about specs until the specs beats other phones and then somehow specs becomes very important.

I don't really care about specs like I stated earlier. Specs don't mean anything if the OS is bulky and sluggish. I posted the performance data just because somebody had earlier stated that the S3 beats the iPhone on industry benchmarks which as you can see is not true. But this is typical of android fanboys spreading misinformation. Funny thing I've noticed is that most grumbling and complaining ( on other tech forums ) I've seen about the maps issue are from android fanboys who have not used iOS6 or the maps extensively.

manuu, you are correct, after I posted that I almost went back and changed "opinion based" to "emotion based". I hope you noticed the J/K (I know iphones are emoticon hindered compared to the android format and you may not be use to those kinds of things, but it means Just Kidding) and the smiley faces in my post. Once again . I hope yo enjoy your iphone

The Android platform will always be the winner for me. I haven't played with an Iphone 5 yet but there is no comparison between the S3 to the 4S.

The iP5 is working fine - faster, longer batt life and new Maps App does great job printing triptiks.

Drawbacks for biz users - no Lightning dongles for xVGA, HDMI means can't give demo's or Keynote preso's. Maybe not until late Oct.

Also must carry your own USB-Lightning cable to charge if you're in a pinch (since your friends mostly have 30 pin cables).

I have used iOS6. Apple maps is very bad vs Google maps. Sorry. My opinion though.

True, and many have commented negatively on the Sky-Dweller in other threads without first-hand experience, too.

Opinions are like noses, everyone has one and no two are alike...

i agree with the sentiment wholy. Apple's hardware is the rolex of any market, but iOS is a set of duplo blocks when compared to Android...i recently gave up my iPhone 4S to get a galaxy s iii and yes, the hardware is not quite as nice...actually no where near it. But android allows so much more of what I want on my desktop....funny how much samsung wants to be apple though. A blue phone comes with white samsung earbuds....i lol'ed!
