This is one delicious TOPGUN!

Got some time to burn today at the mall and decided to spend it wisely...
Wisely means go to boutiques and try some watches
And the flavor of the day was..... Drum roll IWC

To be honest with you guys....never really cared about IWC on the past

Saw a lot of beautiful watches but one particularly model caught my attention...
Tried it and felt like I was going to have a stroke especially after asking the price

From the little info that I have gathered... Its a 2012 model chronograph with an in house movement and 68+ power reserve
With a ceramic casing of 46MM.

What you think about this watch?
Really not familiar with IWC... Pls chime in IWC gurus.

The 3880 is a great piece. The new 89365 vertical clutch chronograph movement has some nice upgrades like a 68 hr PR.

Not a IWC guru but I have purchased two IWCs for my husband and I love the brand. The pilot line is very nice and this one looks great on you. You should consider it.

It seems like the original 'top gun' was 44mm and that is no longer available.

I really like that model.

Then there is the new range of 'Top Guns' and they include one that has a green tint dial and matching strap in 46mm.

It there any prevailing view among "Top Gun" enthusiasts about which is the "Top Gun" of the "Top Guns"

This one:

The best of the best.

To the OP, if you go for the new TG chrono, you're gonna be in good company, since it's also the personal watch of Gianfranco D'Attis, the president of IWC.

Seen here when I met up with him at the Beverly Hills boutique, flanked by the Spitfire Perpetual and my Top Gun Perpetual:

Great watch, IMO.

Regards,
Adam

Rob that is a great looking watch for sure

However, the ceramic case has got me going.....

The Perpetual Calendar is an amazing pilots watch, but really do pilots need or use a perpetual calendar......

Accordingly, I'm interested in a chronograph (single) Big Gun

Of course pilots don't need a perpetual calendar. In fact, these days, they don't need a watch, either.

Regards,
Adam

PS - Good luck tracking down a Top Gun Chrono! Keep your eyes peeled, 'cuz they're out there.

As impractical as a perpetual calendar may be, it's still a really pretty watch, and I too like the ceramic flat-finish feel of the watch. Just have a really hard time with that exaggerated flared-out crown

I tried this Top Gun Chrono on at my AD last week. They had a preowned one in stock. Here is a wrist shot along with a couple other IWC Pilots I tried on.

I think the matt black ceramic looks the most stealth and tool watch like finish......but I sure do like the green strap to give it a more military persona.

So my plan is for a matt ceramic with a green strap

I'm a big fan of that strap as well; been thinking about ordering one for my TG Perpetual...
