Rolex newbie, real or fake?

I have an opportunity to buy my first Rolex. It is a date just and I believe is 10-15 yrs old by my estimate. It is stainless with a black face with a stainless and gold two tone band. I can't get a good close up as my camera won't focus that close. I have it in my possesion and it is coming from a trusted source BUT I am not sure that he got it from a trusted source. He doesn't know anything about watches. He bought it several yrs ago.
I have spent the whole night researching the authenticity and at this point I have sevearl pros and cons.
PROS: The hand sweeps properly, the watch is pretty heavy, the face and printing look flawless, the band has the # 630 on both end link, Rolex logos on the clasp look good, the magnifier cyclops magnifies well, no engraving on the back.

CON: There is NO model or serial # on the case between the lugs.

Can't really say without proper photos. iMHO newbies put way to much stock in the seconds hand sweeping and the weight of the watch. And if you're new to this - no offense, but you would unlikely have the knowledge to spot a fake dial.

Not saying the watch is fake, just saying w/o photos, it's impossible for anyone here to evaluate.

Do ALL Rolex made in the last 20 yrs have a serial# and model on the case between the lugs? That is my main question and concern.

A 10-15 year old Datejust should have it otherwise fake.

We really need to see photos to help. I will say that if the watch is 10-15 years old it will have the model number and the serial number between the case lugs if it is real. I cant see a situation where the case will have worn bad enough to cause the numbers to be invisible. It is most likely a fake without the numbers between the lugs. Just so you know .... Some counterfiters do engrave numbers between the lugs. That is why pics are really needed before anyone will be able to help you.
