Did you pay cash for the meteorite Daytona, Shoppy?

No I paid for that by Card, as I got the same discount, cash or card. My other WG daytona I paid cash as I got a large discount on it. I get 10% of all my watches with out asking for any discount. I get more on the high end models, i,e WG and platinum models.

When I spotted the GMT-IIc I asked how to get a discount and the manager said he would offer a discount for cash. Not cashiers check, but good old cash.

I went to the bank, returned with $100 bills and promptly got 10% off.

Cash is king, but it's not necessary to carry all of it in with you to the dealer unless, you plan on buying the watch that same day.

Myself, I visited the dealer first, heard her story, and when I was ready to purchase, I walked in with an envelope containing five $100 bills and offered it up as a "deposit" with full payment coming the next day, IF she would accept cash based on a discount of 21% off the MSRP of the watch. She had to check with the manager, but came back to me 5 minutes later saying she would accept the deal.

I gave her the envelop, they wrote up the bill for me, and the next day I went to the back and got a bank-draft drawn up for the remainder as well as the bank-managers business card and fax# so that the AD could follow-up on the bank-draft.

I walked into the AD with all this info, they made the call, and accepted the bank-draft.

Yes, the AD said that they would have taken the whole payment in cash, however, as I needed $5300 and wanted it all in $100 denominations, I'd have to wait something like 48 hours for the bank to put the order in!!!!!

Myself, I wasn't too keen on carrying $5300 around town and I didn't want the hassle of checking for counterfit bills etc.

I'm surprised some of you guys can access $10,000 a day on your ATM debit cards! I that much in my bank account and wanted to use my ATM, however, I was told by the bank manager that the most you could draw on ones ATM card per day was $1000 cash, or $2000-4000 on a interac transaction. I asked if they could make a 24-hour exception on my card for $6,000 so that I could do the transaction on such and such a day without pulling the cash. Nope, they wouldn't budge!!!!

It was frustrating! It was my cash and it was almost like they were denying me the privellege to withdraw it from my own account!!!!
