Unacceptable Daytona Bezel scratch

My own fault but put long sratch in Daytona bezel starting at 85 (scrapes) to a long scratch down to 100.

Q - What is possibility of Rolex independent service guy buffing out, or if I need to replace, any guestimates on replacing bezel cost & time?

Thanks in advance.

Chuck

Looks good leave as it is.

They may can buff out but they may remive some blk paint too what is more annoying than the scratch.

Can you take a better picture ? It would help a lot . Maybe one at a 3/4 angle to show the depth of the damage .

Sorry, that is best picture. I tried different angles but they would not show up. You can feel scratch with fingernail.

Worse case scenario I guess would be replace bezel, is this minor or major?

Thanks

68camaro,

I think any scratch is a minor thing - we are the ones who make it major.

If this is a watch you wear every day, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. You're going to get more scratches. Leave it alone until you get the next overhaul/service done on the watch and the watchmaker will clean it up for you.

If you absolutely must have it polished out, contact a watchmaker and get an estimate. I doubt you'd have to replace the bezel for a surface scratch, but then again, I'm no expert.

A few options :)

#1 polish it out and risk taking out a good amount of black enamel from the numbers

#2 replacing the bezel for around 600 use

#3 keep it and move on as it will happen on a new bezel you get anyway :)

Well for the Rolex to retain its luster..better change the bezel..However it may come at a steep price but that's the price you pay for owning a Rolex. You might wanna contact the service center..probably they'd be of some help.

Afraid scratches are just a fact of life of wearing any watch all scratches are best left till normal routine service time. Now if you do get it buffed out and it gets scratched again will you run out to get scratch buffed out again. Now at normal routine service time Rolex will asses if scratch is repairable if not then its a new bezel if you want to change it.But there will be no extra labour charges to fit bezel as they have to strip watch down to service it.

Thanks all. I will wait to next service date to see what Rolex advises. After sleeping on it scratch is less painful as well.

Leave, your only going to drive yourself nuts. If you have luck like I do, you will spend all this money to replace bezel or get it buffed out, only to scratch it again shortly after.

I barely see it. A few more days and you'll forget it's there.

The first scratch is always the worst. I remember the first on my Daytona, I scraped it on an aluminium window frame. It hit the case and strap but not the bezel. A year or so later I added so many more that you can barely see it now.

When it's shiny and new, you will see every scratch. I have no problem with it but it depends on how deep yours it. I can't quite make it out from your pic.

A friend of mine has a WG Meteorite Daytona and it's spent more time at RSC than on his wrist. Ok, the first bump was bad, he dented the case and guard, but the second time he sent it back was a tiny scratch on the bezel and now?? HE DOESNT WEAR IT!! He's too scared to bump it again... Imagine that, a £28k watch you never wear...

what a shame...
