Yes...in his right ear. He lost the hearing in that ear in the first grade after some sort of infection. He's compensated well over the years. He's a fearless guy but I know the only thing he really fears is losing the hearing in his other ear. When are you scheduled for the operation?

Hi Allan..... I'm in next Thursday!!
(& similarly to your brother I've probably put it off too long already 'cos you lose what little natural hearing you have left after the op' & yep'..... that's kinda worrying!!..... )

Alright ... I'm resurrecting a thread. But, it's not that old ...

Anyway, thanks to Mark (dammit, man!!!) I received my brand spankin' new Tilley T3 last week. Now (dammit, man!!!) my lovely wife wants one. If I don't get her one, she will take mine over, as she has done my favorite baseball cap ... but, I digress.

Is it just me, or is the cord on the Tilley a real pain in the a**? I took mine off on day one.

Just as I thought. For such a nice and well thought-out hat, you would think Tilley could come up with a better cord design.

By the way ... it's great to have TRF back up!!! Thanks Steve!

A buddy of mine has one of those and loves it. They look perfect for those hot sunny days when the sun is beating down, or even when it's raining.

Not a real Tilly, but I bought it at the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne. It went all through Austrailia and New Zealand with me. I'm not really a hat wearer, so now it sits on the shelf collecting more pins. It keeps getting heavier and heavier as I add to it.

Sorry for digging up this old post, but just wanted to comment that it is responsible for me getting one last year and liking it so much that I got another one (different color) this year! The "Airflow" is perfect for me.

I've had one for many, many years. As a matter of fact it was on my head today as I mowed my property. I soaked it in water before donning it so the evaporative effect kept me cooler!

I think it was this thread that brought these hats to my attention. I ended up getting an "Outback" and love it. A rugged hat that will probably outlast me.

I bought one while up in Canada back in 1995. I don't wear it often, but it's great for fishing!

Absolutely, I have had mine for about 8 years, used heavily during Wilderness Search and Rescue operations in virginia/West Va. Love it, i finally have little rip so may send back since they are 100% guaranteed for life. however, I am attached to it so I don't want to not get it back.

Its very comfortable, and does great shielding from sun and rain. I've also hiked zillions of miles with it.
