Looks like STEELINOX's shotgun approach to guessing which airline the C-46 was with, won the day. It was Air America. Good one STEELINOX.
I don't want to get too far off subject, because after all, this is a Rolex site. But since there seems to be some interest in the plane, I'm posting three more shots of the C-46. I hope the forum moderator doesn't mind. I was not an Air America pilot in Vietnam. But the guys I flew with were, and they were truly patriots. Many of their fellow pilots did not come home. For over thirty years, I was a free-lance international delivery pilot/navigator/mechanic. I was hired to help fly one of the C-46's, and navigate the Air America pilots across the Pacific to the States after the war. (this was well before GPS, SatNav, or even Loran) The photos are of us flying in formation, island hopping across the Pacific Ocean. As you can see in the group shot, I was a young guy at the time, wearing my standard uniform of swim trunks, sandals, and tee shirt. It's a small blur, but on my left wrist is my first Explorer. (See moderator, this does have something to do with Rolex after all) Shot from one C-46 in close formation with another There were actually six aircraft in the group. |

"in addition to the work he did, I paid him to photograph it." I think pictures should come as a plus. would never pay for it, vbut this is just me...... |
