DARK Six points = TD?

interesting exchange betwen cyberpmp and the owner and mod staff. i noticed a discussion of "six points" and wanted to know what this means? is there a link to read up on?

are the points subtracted over time? how many before being banned?

last question is, if a disagreement between a mod and member takes place, is the mod automatically considered right?

The infraction system ranges in points from say just a warning yellow card, to anything from two to six point each infraction red card. These have a time limit from one to six months before being removed, but get 12 points then after a discussion could be a ban.

There's virtually never a disagreement between a mod and a member. Decisions are made and reviewed by the mod team.

The decision in question, as with all others made by the mod team, was made with the interests of the overall membership of the forum. It seems that Cyberpipm insisted on trampling over the right of other members to a comfortable posting environment, and the outcome was inevitable.

Dark,
I don't think the point system used at TRF is a secret. These are the basics

Title ................................................. Points

Inappropriate Language ................................2
Insulted Other Member(s) .............................5
Spammed Advertisements .............................5
Antagonistic behaviour/conduct .....................6
Failing to heed moderation warning/advice....... 6
Provocative behaviour towards Mod/Admin....... 6
Unappreciated argumentative conduct .............6
Usurping moderation authority ........................6
An accumulation of 12 unexpired points can result in an automatic ban.

You must keep in mind that sometimes, as in the case mentioned, each incident can be a separate infraction.. There were some unprintable PM's involved with this character as well, and a PM to a Mod or member can also involve an infraction.

None of us enjoy this part of the job.. But we do walk softly and carry a big ban hammer:

That's interesting...I wasn't aware it was such a science. I assumed the banning process wholly arbitrary and capricious..and fun, in a sinister kind of way.

I think you left off a few offences:
1. Indecent references to a sheep
2. Unnecessary posting of a Rado

Wow, new market item to be patented, a "Watch Gauntlet" with a hole, so you can proudly display your watch while riding your dragon into battle.

Oh it's loads of fun and very whimsical, Kevin. Would you like for me to send you into oblivion, so I can have a good laugh? I may (or may not) let you back in. What say you?!?

Will we always know if we've committed an infraction? Do you notify us via PM, even if it's 2 pts for language? Thinking back, I wonder if I've walked a little close to the line myself at times!

Hardly, Lisa. You are a model TRF member!

Yes, we let the user know if there has been an infraction - usually by a PM. Believe me, it takes more than you might think to get to that point. If you just use common sense on the board, everything works out just fine.

For the most part, I agree with the rules, I am sure the majority of the members do not need these rules, but it helps us keep ourselves in check and maintain the peaceful decorum, should emotions want to take charge.

I PM'd Lol-X about my avatar, please let me know if I need to change it to conform with the "decency standards."

The odd thing about that other guys avatar was the way the background was whited out. You just got the feeling that the picture was either taken at a nudist colony or a swingers club for old f@rts!

Combine that with his screen name, with the p and m switched, on purpose IMO and it just added up wrong. I love the way he immediately created another handle for himself. Then he pops his head up and lasted all of 3 minutes before the mods smoked him outta his hole!

There was another new member that was created yesterday right around that same time. He starts off with "I'm new, how do you upload pics"..Nancy and I welcome the guy and POW! He was banned! I am assuming it was him and he failed to understand the concept of IP addresses

All in all..I thought things were handled very well and I must say thank you to the mods....because it was the best laugh I had all week!!

Are you kidding me Lisa? You remind me of the TRF schoolteacher. You try to keep harmony and keep everyone in line. Kudos to you

It does take quite a bit in order to get even a warning here.

What I almost said was "It's part of what makes you so funny," but decided that might be a slight to Jocke's English... so, on second thought, consider it said.

Afraid most times a moderators job is a thankless one,but we do try hard to keep the forum running smoothly. And very rarely do we need to step in,but all forums must have certain rules etc.I remember just a few years ago when the forum started, then with just around 25 members. And most of the mods are from those original members, now see how we have grown in just over three years. So the admin mod staff must be doing a great job,but its the good members that make TRF without them we have nothing. So I take my hat of to the members, and mod admin, who have made TRF what it is today.IMHO the best forum on the world wide net today.
