How Long Does A Rolex Tick?
How long does a rolex tick for after you take it off your wrist?
I was continually wearing my 18ct fluted bezel Datejust watch until i took it off tuesday around 6pm. I left the watch on my nightstand until Thursday morning. I put the watch on around 9am for about 30 - 45min. The next morning when I woke up at 6am, my watch stopped ticking at 2am Friday morning. Should i have an official rolex dealer take a look at it? I just bought this watch during xmas. |

Rolex watches have a Power Reserve of 44-48 hours
My suggestion would be to fully wind the watch and check the power reserve of the watch. If it is between 44-48 hours then everything is ok. If not then you should visit your AD

To test the power reserve of your particular watch, just manually wind it fully (about 50 full turns of the crown) and let it run untouched until it stops.

x 2 here as well. From your description it sounds to me that your watch is fine. But do the test mentioned here to confirm. Good luck!
And don't believe anyone who suggests you need to change the battery!

It's interesting to note you could get so much PR out of a 3135, John. My Bluesy gave me close to 48 hours and my Platty 47 hours and some minutes - and all this with around 45 turns of the crown. JJ

I can skip a day wearing my Oyster Date, and no problems with it running the next day, with the 3135 movement. And there's good reason to skip every other day, with two gorgeous other watches, a 60s Omega IWC and 60s Omega Seamaster dress watches to wear also.
So many watches, so little time. But time is what it's all about, isn't it... |

If you note in the test the 3135 was five years old and unserviced.
The GMT was nine years old, I believe it had been serviced. And the 4130 power reserve was 67h 12m 59s with chronometer on, Rolex states 65h pr. Of all timepieces used in this test the 4130 by far had the most reserve. I'd say it is best to understate your power |
