Rolex Explorer l

About 2 weeks ago I bought a Rolex Explorer l model 214270 and I'm very pleased with the watch. Its supposed to have 48 hours reserve power, however it stops after about 18 hours. This happened twice. Should I return it to a Rolex Service center?

Question: Has it ever been fully wound? Or just very lightly worn and not ever fully wound at all?

fully wind it , then let it run down ,,, see how long that takes ,,, tells you the mechanics are good ,,,,, then ,, providing its 35hrs or more ,,, fully wind it again , 40 turns or so ,, then wear it for a week ,
i find my omegas wont have much reserve if i have a lazy week , but are grand if im busy ,,, my rolexes are easier wound and dont mind what i do in a week , but i never take my watch off. hth

Do the winding thing, keep wearing it and if the problem is still there in a few weeks you should take it to an RSC.

Agree with the above, if you just put it on from a dead stop and don't wind it first this could be the problem. Wind it fully and let it run down until it stops, this should give you your answer. I've had watches stop when in my locker at work when doing 12 hous shifts. 12 hours in the locker, then back on the wrist only to go home and crawl into bed then back to work, watch off in the locker again, after two or three cycles of this the watch would stop. There just wasn't enough movement over several days to keep it running even though I had it on for 12 hours a day because generally 8 of those hours were spent in bed asleep.
I always do a power reserve test with a new watch even before I start wearing it to make sure all is okay.

Before I received replies I decided to experiment on my own. I had it on for a week then I wound it 20 Full turns, wore it for 2 days and took it off. I'm pleased to say it ran for 46 hrs. I assume the 1st. wind at the Rolex store wasn't complete and my 1st. wind not fully 20 times. But thanks to Forum I've learned a few things. Thanks cop 414, Sear Chart, dysondiver and others for your advice.
