Double Red Sea dweller value?

I have an extensive (and expensive) collection of modern rolexes, and am looking to get at least 1 vintage investment watch.

Found a double Red Sea dweller listed with box and papers for $37500. all parts original and condition is pretty good.

Does anybody know what market rate is for these?

I'm not an expert but that seems on the higher end but depending on condition and history......

We really need pictures to evaluate a question such as this. There are just so many variables.

Think I'd be expecting as new for that price, unless the particular watch has some documented provenance? Hard question to answer definitively.

Post some pics of it. With vintage it depends on a number of things:

1) How pristine it is (original parts). (Serial between lugs matching the case back and dial Mark)
2) Special fading on bezel and dial.
3) What Mark it is.
4) How complete the accessories are.
5) The condition.

This site helped me a lot for identifying some things:

http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/w...rsd-dials.html

There are some pages on the site that also list marks and fades in rank order of desirability (generally speaking).

Also, contact someone like Marcelo to figure out about the five things listed above to see if he notices anything sketchy.

Ultimately, it is worth what you are willing to pay if it is a rarer piece with cool fade.

Eric Ku of 10pastten.com sold me one and Marcello, the vintage area of this website, and that DRSD website were invaluable in my process of deciding:

Considering I paid half for a solid example full set... I'd say that
Would have to be for a particularly amazing piece. Complete photos
Would be necessary to even begin to evaluate.

Haha no presents yet.

Pics are a must and as Q Cumber mentioned there are many variables to consider. Patent Pending DR's can fetch 100k. So if you are looking at a complete and correct PP model 37.5k would be a bargain. Thin case DR's in excellent condition approach the 40k mark, while the more common mk III and mk IV are in the mid 20k. Expect to pay a bit more for a mk III than a mk IV; however, condition rules the day. Good luck in your search.
