I am struggling at the moment on this as well. I always liked the AP 15400, as if it is the next watch I will be buying and never spent time into VC. In the back of my mind, I was looking for 3 of the more sporty watches in the holy trinity brand. The PP Nautilus was also considered, but given the price difference, I moved on to RO.

But I might have a chance to get a 40% discount on VC, so I am looking into their line-up, and picked up Overseas as an alternative. Now what do you guys think?

The Overseas I thought looks just as nice, but if I was to pay full price less usual retail discount, I might go to the RO, but given the discount, and I can't fault any of the design on the VC, I am at the cross road.

Note, once I brought the VC, I will NOT buy the RO, unless I have a significant change in my income / wealth.

AP ROC carries prestige but doesnt come off loud.. in a nutshell, what ur looking for can be found in the AP ROC.. besides even looking at both the watches, AP's Oak design and that shimmer on the bracelet is incomparable to any SS watch.

i speak from experience.

I think it is a tough decision and ultimately will come down to how you feel when each watch is on your wrist. I have the older ROC and OSC. Both look great and wear comfortably (although for me the AP required a 1.5 link and the VC two "half" links-which are really 3/4 links). Both fly under the radar a bit, but the distinctive case design, bracelet and plots make the AP recognizable to WISs. If push came to shove, I'd pick the AP over the VC. But I'm appreciating my VC a lot more recently because my AP is back at the spa again for a chronograph issue

Both are gorgeous watches, with fantastic attention to detail and finish. The RO is more of a known quantity and is more highly regarded in WIS circles fwiw, but most people aren't going to know what either one is. The head of the RO is more avant-garde than that of the OSC so it "stands out" a bit more, both have gorgeous bracelets and extremely high-quality finishing with a great mixture of brushed/polished surfaces and facets that really play well in the light.

A 40% off deal on an OSC is great, if you flip often that could make it a bit sweeter as that wouldn't result in large loss when you sell.

If otoh you keep your watches longer, that's not a factor. Ultimately it depends on which one you like the most, I'd say spend some time checking them out at jewelry stores under varying light and get the one that sings to you the loudest.

I agree the 1815 chrono is something special. Tried it and still blows my mind until now giving me sleepless night

Ap chronographs are great but Lange chronos IMHO are in a different league.

I really only like the VC on strap as I'm not a fan of the bracelet. So I would say AP between those two.

I am in a similar boat right now. I own an AP ROO chrono and really like it. i am now considering an AP RO chrono vs VC Overseas Chrono. I like the dial appearance of the AP more than the VC but i like the big date (eyes not as good as they used to be) on the VC. In addition, the sub dials on the VC are easier to see. I think if i did not own the AP ROO Chrono it would be a more difficult decision for me. Thus, i am moving towards the VC option. I like the VC bracelet but prefer the Anthracite/grey dial. My second choice is the white gullochie dial. The problem is that the grey model does not come with the bracelet as an option. So still trying to decide what to do.

Can't you get an aftermarket bracelet if you go with the gray VC? I love that look but understand wanting a bracelet too

Yes that is possible but it adds to the cost because the OEM bracelets are generally not discounted.

Maybe look for a pre-owned gray 49150 on a strap to save some money and put it towards a bracelet. The only thing I don't like about my 49140 is that there are no strap options. I've asked a few strap makers but so far no luck.

That's not bad... I had a VC OS a cpl yrs ago and looked into the strap option. It was like $17-1800 to get it on a strap with deploy.

AP makes a better chrono plus VC is coming out with a brand new overseas next year so definitely don't buy one now.

VC will eventually release an Overseas 3 with inhouse movement, but how can you be so sure it's next year?
