Hi there,
I am casually conversing with a person who offers me this Ellipse. He does not know any more (did not even know that its an Ellipse). Those are the only pics I (currently) have - could you please be so kind to throw your collective knowledge at me? I do know very little concerning PP - so anything helps ... cheers and thx for your assistence Al |

The design is based off of the golden ratio.

Can't help you really, it's a model that most Patek collectors don't really know about IMO as it's not a piece that people want nowadays, not modern enough it seems, at least that's what I understood the very few times there was a thread on Ellipse Pateks here...

This is the worst imaginable design by Patek, not a collectors piece. Hideous.

Buy it because you want it not because it is a Patek. If you do get it for a great price it would be nice to own but will not be as easy to move as some if trying to sell it. You dont see many on a leather band either.

Well - first of all THANKS for your time/interest to help a fellow watch-guy out ;-)
To be honest - I am pretty torn on this watch ... First time I saw the pic - I felt it looks awful (the phrase a face that only a mother could love, ... comes to mind ) ... but the more I keep looking on it, the nicer I find it - it def. grows on you To be honest, I am by no means a wealthy guy, and I guess the fact that a PP is in reach for me is somewhat thrilling ... or should I use the word unsettling ... price is roughly 3k ... I guess I see if i can get my hands on it physically - and then take it from there ... it seems to be an older model (70ies/80ies), as it is supposedly only 32mm between the strap - so it might also be on the very small side ... any other pointers? cheers, Al |
