At worst, he may have been hoping you would respond with a partial refund??? Either way, you're paid, he's gone... I think you can breathe a sigh of relief :-)

I believe you might be right. I think he was trying to get a better deal and when I responded in the firm manner, he just didn't have the courage to reply back. What a joke.

I'm with the notion that the wife yelled at him. He bought the expensive watch without talking with her first. He thought it would be easier to ask forgiveness than for permission. Maybe he was wrong. LOL

When I bought my first Rolex I was in a much different financial situation than I am in now. Going back 9 years or so. I didn't tell the wife until I brought it home because I knew she would say NO. She gave me a lot of crap about it but eventually got over it. LOL.

Quick tip to the buyer in question. If it was the wife, you can squash it by getting her a nice watch too.

Buyers remorse. I had a Rolex returned to me (not on this forum) because he didn't like the color of the dial in person. It happens.

My experience would suggest that he was fishing for a partial refund. When you gave the definitive stance of sending it back, he likely knew there wasn't room to work you over for some money.
