Thoughts on PAM359

Would it make a good first Pam? What´s your take on it? Value? How about comparing it with others? Any pictures and opinions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

a "good first PAM" is the panerai you want to wear and hopefully keep. that being said, a lot of people do start with the 000/005/111/112. personally, i went with what i liked (164), even though it's not at all a "usual" PAM.

as for the 359, it is different from the usual panerai due to its arabic dial and its case is unique among the 1950s luminors because it is fully polished. also, some prefer manual wind panerais because that's more historically accurate, instead of an automatic like the 359. lastly, it's a good idea to try it on, as the 1950s luminors are quite top heavy due to the thick case that houses the auto movement.

among the 1950s luminors, my favorite is the 351 (tobacco dial, gold hands, Ti).

nothing beats buying what *you* like, though.

alfredo, a couple of years ago I was set on the 359 and went to buy it an AD and when I tried it on it wasnt doing anything for me, I was a little dissappointed at the time as my excitement was crushed, then I tried on a few more and that day for some reason the 088 GMT was singing so I ended up getting that watch at the time. You abviously get what you want but I just wanted to share that with you. Good luck

i too was initially thinking of the 359 as my first pam but after trying it at the AD, my heart went for the PAM 320 which also has the GMT function..

I love the 359, but it is highly polished and very thick. I wear it in rotation along with my other, more subtle, pieces. I recommend trying one on before purchasing.

320 is my fav' in the SS 1950's case models. But I wouldn't own one again, found it very top heavy. Which is weird, as my 372 is a great fit.

I really enjoy mine. From the sandwhich dial, Lume, to the polished case (in my opinion) stands out. But...it does showcase scratches a bit more.
I would say, since it is a bit of a departure from the standard "6, 9, 12" iconic display your SECOND Panerai will have to be one with a traditional design to balance it out.!! Good luck with your hunt!

Id rather start with a 000/005/111/112 but it comes down to what makes you smile good luck in your decision
