On my ref 18038 1984 DD
I have heard either here or another forum that I would need to also change the day and date wheels to match?

Here is someones watch for sale now I can see that the day and date is darker, is this because of age? Or because the dial was not the original and thus the day and date wheels needed to be changed too?
Did Rolex make a different color day/date wheels for the champagne dials and burl wood?

How about the hands?

not all texts on DD wheels are the same thickness, and some could be a bit faded from over the years. you shouldn't have to change your day and date wheel though, they should work just fine.
