Your Rolex and Your...Watch Winder

The topic always comes up and always leads to animated debate as to whether or not it's good for the watch (is it safe), whether it's necessary (my greatest joy is winding and setting my Rolex), and whether this or that one is the best (Wolf, Orbita, fingers, other...). Some of us have them and others don't. How about posting pictures of your Rolex(es) in their winder(s)!!!

Here's my current cheapo...

Nothing humble about them. I'd love to own a Milgauss.

You've got one of the first generation winders. Keep it; it'll be vintage someday.

Thanks for asking about it. It is nothing special at all. Really it is the cheapest generic winder I could find for eight watches on ebay. I believe the winder was $50 (winning bid on an auction) and shipping $30, IIRC. I see others of about the same quality regularly for about $125.

This is my third generation of winder having both two unit and four unit ones in the past. I still also use the four unit one which only has two of the four spots filled. The two unit one (my first winder) didn't hold the watches at enough of an angle so was pretty much useless. My need for winder space has grown as my watch collection has as well. My first winder I bought was for my first automatics, my dad's Bulova and my cheap Invicta.

The large one I've got takes up some space and holds a lot of watches so it really fits my needs and didn't cost thousands of dollars. When I received it a couple of months ago I was amazed at how large it really was; it's a piece of furniture but it works for me and my pedestrian needs.

Now back to the regular scheduled program; how about some more pictures of winders and their watches!!!

I've got FIVE 2-watch winders and THREE 1-watch winders spread all over the room, and I cover them to hide the watches from visitors and intruders, so not easy to take a photo.

One of the dual winders is a Wolf, as are two of the singles, and one of the duals is an Eilux, then there's an Egard dual winder, and a pair of cheap Amazon dual winders. The cheap Versa winder has my son's Omega in it.

I run my Eilux on 2 D battery power so when nobody is home it gets locked into the safe. After a year it started getting a little noisy so I decided to take it apart and grease all of the gears and shafts in both gear boxes. It is very well made and a very well thought out design. The electric motors are mounted on the back side of the plastic gear boxes so they are well away from the watches eliminating any chance of magnetizing the watches. They are a common Mabuchi motor that sells for about 6 dollars on Amazon if they ever fail. I will just repair it myself now I know the mechanics of how it is built. Can you tell I love all things mechanical!

I like those, and bet you'd regret flipping them.

I'd also be more inclined to flip the sub and keep the other two. The winder looks like another ebay one to me, also.

With these two banger winders a bit of care needs to be taken to keep the watches from rubbing together while on the winders. Easy enough to keep the adjacent watches separate.

Looks like you might have the wrong endlinks on that Pepsi's Jubilee bracelet. 19mm instead of 20mm, maybe?
