For lunch in Rome - Da Francesco - 5 minutes from Piazza Navona, at Piazza del Fico. Amazing hospitality and quality of food. Enjoy!

Shangri-La Hotel has rooftop bar that shouldn't be missed.

Bateau Le Calife is a dinner cruise on the Seine that is on a smaller boat with better dining experience.

Jules Verne at the Eiffel Tower is an expensive but unforgettable experience. There are better places but not when you consider the ambiance. Highly recommended for first time visitor.

Learn some French, or good luck in Paris. I was there on business a few years ago and ate dinner at Chipotle twice...they spoke English and were pleasant.

Do not miss Chez Paul in the Bastille!! This is a locals spot, with VERY good food. We seek it out every time we are in Paris. They are well known for their duck; I order it without fail, the skin is so crispy, it will blow your taste buds away. We did Jules Verne last August, it was pretty freaking awesome. The food was amazing, but we really liked going outside to the viewing deck through the private door. Also, since you're going during the summer, the ET will be slammed with tourists. There is something very special about taking the Jules Verne only elevator directly to the restaurant.

Le Chateaubriand in the 17arr or if you feel like splurging, L'Atelier du Joel Robuchon Saint Germain

Than you find whatever you want

I would definitely try to eat at at least 1 Michelin restaurant in Paris (whichever one you can get into since your trip is fast approaching).

One day I am going to move to Paris. My favorite place. The bigger boats are great too.

Getting away from lunch and dinner; my favorite thing to do is get up early when the shops are just opening and walk to one of the local bakeries for coffee and pastries with the locals.

Everything, of course, depends on what is convenient, but if you find yourselves at, or close to, Boulevard St Germain, then consider lunch or dinner at Chez Rene. Very authentic bistro-style place with an excellent menu

Don't laugh...the first night I was there I ended up in a pizza restaurant and was e-mailing with someone back at the office to translate the toppings for me!

If you get tired of French food there is a breakfast restuarant called something like "Breakfast in America" that is not great but good. In the Latin Quarter a few blocks from Notre Dame. Nice change of pace after a few days.

See my post... Both have Michelin stars and both are on the current San Pellegrino top 50 in the world but neither are stuffy or snooty. If you want that, there are plenty to choose from.
