Deployant Clasp for Leather Strap (specific kind)

Hi All,

I have been on this forum reading and soaking up as much information as possible to learn about these Rolexes.

I also did a search for what I am about to post and I could not find what I'm looking for. I am essentially looking for this deployant clasp to put on the leather strap for a SS DJ I am considering. I have attached the image for the deployant clasp I want with my watch.

I have, up until now, used the butterfly deoloyant clasps with leather straps. However, I am thinking with my Rolex, I would like this one. Can anyone provide a source for this sort of clasp?

Thanks!
Kev

That looks very similar to the deployant that Omega uses. I have always liked that style and would like to do the same with my DJ. Please keep us informed if you find something. What brand of strap are you thinking about?

You know - I haven't even gotten that far! So far, most of my watches have leather straps and I have just gone down to the local watch store (not a Rolex AD or anything, though they have very nice watches including Rolex, Blancpain, Patek, etc...) and pick up cheap butterfly deployant clasps.

So, I am still considering watch straps myself and should probably put more research into that aspect too. But I feel like the deployant clasp is really what I want to get sorted out.

Btw, I first saw this clasp on a Blancpain. I forget which model (it was at the beginning as I was just learning about watches). Somehow, I remembered this clasp and searched for it. After going through many internet sites, I finally found this one. It is on a Frederique Constant (not a great watch, from what i hear from others, but the clasp is the style I'm looking for).

And I have attached the style I have thus far for comparison. I really want the bottom watch strap to "skip" all the loops and go from within the watch, giving a very elegant clean look to the strap when buckled. Mine looks fine on these cheaper watches, but the style posted above initially will look better, imho.

If I hear of ANYTHING, I will post here as well for others. :)

Kev

I'd suggest getting an Omega deployant. . .very high quality and comfortable. If the Omega symbol bothered you, it could be easily removed I imagine.

Thank you, jwalther. I have actually seen them and they look good! My concern is that I would probably be paying a bit more because of the omega name and then even more to get the logo off. But overall, it is pretty much what I am looking for. Amazon even has an omega clasp (it is the only one on there) that actually matches what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

TTmax, thanks for the post. I feel like the Rolex one would be fine, but I'm very much considering something more like the Omega (or my original post).

Thanks!

For anyone interested, this link below shows another version of the deployant clasp. I'm going to try and see if I can find that exact one. Though not as nice as the Omega, it is closer to what I am looking for.

Stowa makes such clasps, but then you will get a Stowa logo on it:

Stowa does make these types of clasps, as in deployant. However, not the specific fold-over we are looking for the purposes of this thread. At least, this is what I gathered from their website. They have the butterfly style and we are looking for the fold-over style that tucks the longer strap under the shorter strap in a clean fashion, leaving the strap holders unused. Original photo as well as the Omega photos illustrate this.

Thanks though!

I've got a similar deployant on a Maurice Lacroix and really like it. Omega makes one ($300-ish) and so do Tag and Breitling. It's a nice design and sits fairly flat. However, because this style relies on a snug fit, as opposed to pinned, for the one side, you have to have to correct thickness on the strap in the deployant area. Typically, I see this type of deployant sold as "only for ______ brand straps".

Taikonaut has been advertising a Tag-type, aftermarket deployant with strap as a package that looks pretty good for $50-$60.

Folks, we have a winner!!!

Slcbrown, thank you so much for helping with this!!!

Also, on a side note, Frederique Constant has just replied to my inquiry from last night regarding their fold over clasps (see my first post for photo) and they have fold-over deployant clasps for most sizes. I have requested more information and will post that here as well. Until then...Taikonaut will do!!

You can also find several of them here:

Different metal types if you're interested.

Kev,
Please keep me posted on the Frederique Constant. I have a buckle close and put an aftermarket band with deployment clasp but would prefer a FC clasp to go on OEM band.
Thanks,
Bruce

A couple of years back I looked into that clasp for a Seamaster I use to own and Omega here in Canada quoted me $510.00 for just the clasp.

To make a single fold deployant fit centered on the wrist the 6:00 side must be very short compared to the 12:00 side. I had this carbon fiber strap custom made using the original Tudor strap specs. If you don't have a strap w/ similar dimensions the butterfly clasp would work better, imho.

I never did end up getting any of the deploys by clasps in the links shared here.

The Tudor wine dP shared looks great though!
