Changing time question

If I change the time on my Sub, do I need to wait till the seconds hand on the twelve-o'clock marker and then line up the minutes hand exactly on the minute marker? Or does the watch self-correct?

thx

No, that is not really necessary IMO, I usually sync the second hand with time.gov and get as close as I can with the minute hand. The watch will not self correct either.

A mechanical watch cannot self-correct..

If you want it that close, pull the crown out to stop (hack) the second hand at the 12, then align the minute hand on the minute marker and start everything when your time-standard marks the minute..

What's not necessary? I would like the minute marker to be dead-on the minute when the second hand reaches the 12 marker.

It's not necessary that I bother with that, because you're OK with the minute marker being between minutes when the second hand is at 12? Or is it not necessary because the watch is smart enough to figure this out on its own?

Sorry for being vague, I have found that snycing the second hand to time.gov and positioning the minute to an approximate position within the minute track gives me an accurate enough reading of how my watch is performing. To acheive what you have stated, then the best thing to do is stop the second hand at the 12:00 position and adjust your minute hand correctly, like you stated in your orignal post!

It's easy. But you have to STOP the watch when the second hand touches '11'; position the long minute hand exactly on '12' and then push home when the exact time is reached.

If you follow the above, you will find the minute hand lines up perfectly with the markers each time the second hand touches '12'.
