Red Devil

1st time poster. 5 years lurker. A bit long but, here is the story:
Have this wg Daytona for almost 10 yrs with bracelet. Never liked the look cuz it was too shiny, heavy and the watch is prone to nasty scratches. At that time, went to AD & ask if I can swap the bracelet to leather strap, and was told it was not possible cuz of the end links proprietary to Rolex. Being naive & lazy & never bothered to research and ask around. So the watch became a safe queen for many years.

Fast forward years later to the present, went to a watch shop wanting to change battery for a Casio. There was a few Rolexes laying around in the shop. Out of the blue, I asked about swapping the daytona metal bracelet model to leather. I was expecting same negative answer and walked away with tucked tail. Lo and behold, the jeweler was quick to say it was possible, and even offered a pair of ugly blue italian rubber strap for $250. I said nay.

A few phone calls later and a date with a master jeweler, this is what becomes of the 116509. It commands a lot of wrist time now. The red is resurrected, back from the dead. The feeling is almost like rekindling with a long lost relative (that you love, of course).

Scored a pair of endlinks. Alas, the endlinks didn't fit that well, but good enough to complement the new reincarnation of the 116509. What you guys think?

Yes. It is a big difference w endlinks if you were to go with a more sophisticated look. And the daytona fits in this category since it has a smaller case, and is a rather formal looking watch

Very nice watch, I prefer without the end links but pretty close so if it was mine I would swap between the two.

The red really sets it off, especially with the dial contrast.

Love the look also, the red and black band is stellar - do also like it better without the end links.

It is probably possible, but never thought of it since the Rolex clasp is a scratch magnet. So I used the original Hirsch buckle that came with the strap.

While I prefer a metal bracelet, because for some reason they just fit my wrist better, I do have to say the black leather with red stitching is really striking.
