For me I like the different Rolex lines and collect representatives from many of them. The OP and its date and non-date derivatives (AirKing, Milgauss, Exp, ExpII, GMTs, DJ, DD, Subs (and their derivatives Dates, SD, YM, etc.) and Daytona and its variants. I also tend to shy away from watches that are too redundant in function. Tudor is a sub branch of the Rolex family tree with its own variety and I've collected some of those as well. A couple of other brands have caught my eye and have ended up in the collection either by whimsy or intent. These include Omega, Bulova, and Hamilton.

I only have a collection of 3 watches but trying to acquire more all the time. The way i think of my collection is try to diversify my collection. Diver, Chrono, GMT, Dress, Vintage, Daily beater, Precious metals. I also like to diversify with watch Brands. I usually like to stay away from pieces i already have. I wouldn't buy more than one sub c even though i love the hulk as well as the LN or LB. And i do believe theres room for both or all three in someone collection but as my income is somewhat limited my aim in my collection at the moment is to have a well rounded group of watches.

Sub 14060M
GMT Blnr Explorer II Polar 42mm All have similar shaped dial markers and "Mercedes" hour hands and SS.cases. There are lots of subtle differences though with dial size and case height and weight. 2 have GMT function and Easylink clasps. They are all ROLEX and I love this little collection. |

I took one of those when I had my BLNR too. I had drunk most of the blue label though.
