Wearing your Rolex in the Summer Heat
So here in the lovely DC area we have been blessed with 90+ degree heat with a heat index of well over 100 for over 30 days straight. In addition the humidity is quite stifling as well. Please understand this is not one of those "Is it safe" threads but as for me personally I find wearing a heavy steel sport watch in this type of weather to be rather uncomfortable.
Is it just me or do you fellow TRF members feel similar? I'd rather just throw on the G-Shock rather than have a sweat infused Rolex sticking to my wrist. |

A steel bracelet can feel greasy on hot and sweaty days. Use a NATO strap or rubber strap and you're good.

I never found my 16710 on bracelet uncomfortable while I was in Taiwan /Japan with higher humidity and temperature walking all day outside... If it was some kind of leather strap might have been another story..... Wear what you like and stop if it makes you feel uncomfortable for whatever reason.

I work in the DC area and know what you mean...but I do wear my metal bracelets in the summer tho. Easy to clean. I also dig rubber and NATO in summer months as well.

I find nato and/or rubber are even worse in the heat. I adjust my bracelet a little bigger so it feels a little more loose and off I go.

I found my datejust 116200 pretty uncomfortable in high humidity. My 16710, however, is super comfortable all the time. I don't even need to adjust the bracelet. I think having the micro adjustment pins allowed me to get the perfect fit.

Come to Louisiana if you want heat and humidity. My sub has no problem. Oh yes a lot of rain too.

Good thing that you don't actually live someplace hot, 90 degrees is winter weather around here. You would never wear your watch..

90 degrees would feel like the onset of a cool front here.

Ten years in Tucson, AZ would yield numerous years with over 100 days of plus 100 degree weather. Never had watches be an issue other than causing tan lines on the wrist. It may be a dry heat but 120 is like standing in front of a blast furnace. Now in temperate MA the only change for me is taking watches off of leather when the weather gets warm enough for playing in the water.

I live in Houston where we've been well over 100 F most days and 90 percent humidity. I don't find my SD4k uncomfortable but I do find myself adjusting my Glide Lock bracelet a few times a day switching between AC and outdoors. It's very handy and reaffirms my decision to go with that particular watch.

I'm in the DC area and I wear mine daily. When I'm playing an outdoor gig, my Explorer II seems to be the most comfortable.

Never had issues with the DSSD on SS when I went to Cancun/Tulum. Talk about hot. Had to literally wear a towel with no shirt as it was too stifling..not a pretty sight..:)..me without a shirt on

Hong Kong gets pretty bad for anyone who has visited/lived here, regularly 100% humidity
I actually like the rolex bracelets, with the glidelock. Rubber is ok but with my piaget polo 45, you can only make limited adjustments which isn't fantastic when your wrist can increase by an inch or more in circumference |

During the summer I find the weight more than the steel uncomfortable. Have a red Robby Hirsch Performance strap on my SMPc and a Hirsch James on the Explorer II. Both are waterproof and light. The 214270 stays on its ss bracelet cuz it's only 130g.

Yea I'm just not a hot weather type person. I always dread the summer and have experienced AZ dry heat too. I had to travel to Dallas for business last year and at midnight the temp gauge in the car said 110.
Yuck. Well maybe I'll just relocate to Fairbanks so I can wear my sub all year LOL!!! But in all seriousness I like the idea of a NATO or rubber strap. Where is the best place to get them? |

I don't mind steel during hot summers, glidelock on my SubC is a game changer for humidity however. I've only had it a week and have already appreciated its uses so very much!

Definitely NATO is my most comfortable option here in Hawaii.
Rubber is second, but also gets a little hot sometimes, but seems like holds the watch in place better wet than a bracelet, which starts sliding around a bit. |
