Help!!!! Which diver is the best????

So I posted a thread a few weeks ago stating that the size/proportions of my 216570 was getting to me. Thus, I was considering a trade. This past weekend I took my two little ones to my favorite AD to find a hulk, a sd4k, a YM (blue), and a 34mm OP (grape) waiting on a tray for our viewing. All of them, in their own right, are beautiful. As I type, I am wearing my BLNR. This watch, though not a Pepsi, basically fulfills the dream I had from a young age for a GMT. At this point, life has lead me to consider unloading my EXPII. Now, its my first Rolex and has sentimentality because of it, but it also has some negative connotation due to certain life events etc.... Sounds stupid, but it does. Anyway, the four watches on the AD's tray, represented the path I'm looking to take. Something new for my wife, and something new for me. My issue is this....first, can she ever pic between the grape OP and a Date (she wants 34mm)?????? And can I pick between a Hulk, the YM and the Sea Dweller???? My initial feeling is that I LOVE the YM. But I don't like the price, nor do I like the fragility of the finish on the bezel. Next, the SD4K. I love the idea of what it is. "the" diving watch, but when I wear it, I feel the case back is slightly obtrusive......but I may need to just try it again. Then there's the Hulk. Its unique, its beautiful, it holds its value. But is it a long term keeper? Anyway, the point here is this. For those of you who have owned these watches, why should I buy each one? Which is really better?? They all "basically" the same from a functional perspective. I'm looking for your opinions. Not "do what you want". I want to be convinced.

Here's my take, get a hulk if you want some color, it's simply stunning if you like green (who doesn't). For a sense of Rolex achievement there's nothing better than the DSSD, in blue a bit more watch-nerd, but hey, we're here, right?
Otherwise there's always a Sub ND for it's simplicity and symmetry.
Then there's the Sd4k, cuts a bit above the well loved and often seen Subs, sits well for a lot of folks and, to me, is the ultimate diver these days...Have fun, the hunt is some/most of then pleasure...

If you will have batman as your daily watch then hulk is good choice.
Otherwise balck sub date or no date is my recommendation.

My advice is to give your decision some more time. It sounds like you are conflicted. Making an important decision whilst conflicted can lead to serious and expensive errors. Picking a luxury watch is not an urgent matter and can wait until you sort it all out.

In the meantime, you are wearing my favorite watch, the BLNR GMT.

As one pinnacle of Rolex engineering I like my Sea Dweller and the new model now with the required 'divers' graduations on the ceramic bezel and new clasp is THE one to own.

Seeing how you have a BLNR I'd go with an LVC based on your choices. I love the SD4K but to me THE diver is the DSSD Blue

All good watches but I would look at the ND Sub. I have owned the Hulk more than a few times and the watch is great. My problem is the value is good and my wear time is limited so off it goes in a trade. The SD is nice but I think to much for my limited use of the watch. Why not pick up a ND Sub for you and a vintage DJ for the wife? She has her own watch and you yours? Just a thought.

It's heavy indeed, much like a PM, but if sized properly pure joy on the wrist.

Agree, best with the BLNR is the LVc or the YM blue dial.

I agree with your concerns about the YM's bezel being a scratch magnet.

Totally agree... if the OP likes the proportions of the YM but not the bezel or the price, vintage sports models have similar body lines and proportions to it at a better price.

Hulk for the unique dial. Agree on your comments re YM and the sea dweller didn't do it for me when I owned it. I felt it was a hit top heavy. I'd say hulk has to be owned as part of a small collection given its niche coloring.

Best modern Rolex diver.....the SD4K IMO. Comfort (without the extension), case size/proportion, weight balance, readibility/matte dial, uniqueness of not having a cyclops....check check check and then some.

116600 Sea Dweller is my all around favorite.

However, if it doesn't fit well on you (i'd make sure its properly fitted before making that call), then go with the hulk. I agree with you on the YM - I'm a fan, but that bezel bothers me...though I am seriously considering the new rhodium dial one.

Well...do you want the best diver or the watch you like the best? I mean, really, think about it. What good is having something that is the 'best' if you're not in love with it?

Any of the three will more than do the job. It would be between the SD and the LV for me, with perhaps a slight nod to the LV b/c of how nicely it would pair up with the BLNR.

YM Blue gets my vote! These make a great pair. I use my YM As more of a dress watch.

Wow, so many extremely varied calls here. That YM looks gorgeous, but that bezel leaves me nervous. My wife says it's too dressy... polar opposite of my exp 2 which is about as dressed down as you can get without going to a gshock.... anyone and everyone, let me know your thoughts.... and btw I've finally gotten the wife back on the 36mm dj bandwagon. I think it will suit her much better in the long run...
