Not happy. This has been years and years in the making.

"To break the rules, you must first master them"???
So AP have yet to master how to make a workable chronography inhouse without making it also super expensive ( aka laptimer )

No doubt...but I'm not surprised to be honest.

Love AP, but that is something they need to commit to happening. Albeit, I'd take a APRP movement all day everyday

Seriously, if AP wants to be considered as a top-end watchmaker, esp one of the members of the so called "trinity", they really need to do better on movements.

I think some of the top end RMs use APRP movements. Time for you to get one.

Really or is is it they need to make a lower cost mass produced chrono movement for us common folk? They have the APRP lap timer, split minute chronographs in the grande comps and tourbillion chronos but all cost north of $200k. We want a "common man" in house chrono for less than $30k. Does not having a low cost in house chrono not make them worthy of the "trinity"?

Yes. It is of course relatively easier to make a wonderful movement if cost is no consideration. It gets considerably harder at a lower price point and even harder to make it compact and slim. Take their minute repeater Concept for example. Its very loud of course which is a good thing but look at the size of that thing.

Totally, if there is no limit on size and price, it is much easier then putting limits on these 2 factors...
For very long the watchmakers' goal was to make watches as small as possible following the pocket watches, now with watches made bigger it gives them more possibilities, but those 2 limits and it is easier for them.

IIRC VC got their first inhouse chorono just a couple of years ago.

One factor not being considered is how much longer does their contract with F Piguet run for?
They’ll want to introduce their in-house movement when that contract period is nearing its end.
