Platinum Day Date
Beautiful platinum watch at a local watch shop. I wanted to see if I could see a difference between platinum and stainless steel. Let me tell you...it's obvious when they're side by side (yes...I know...I should have included my stainless GMT in the photo). Platinum has a slightly yellowish cast whereas stainless is bluish. It reminds me of nickel (which makes sense, I guess, since they're in the same column on the periodic chart). Anyway...I'll never be able to afford this baby but I thought I'd post the photo.

I think that's WG. Platinum and SS are very similar.

My platinum wedding band looks white next to white gold and not yellow at all.

I think I need to clarify my original statement. Platinum is definitely very white and very beautiful. But if you've ever redone your bathroom or kitchen and used nickel instead of chrome fixtures you'll know what I'm talking about. Platinum has a warmer tone to it versus stainless steel. Another good analogy would be the older incandescent white Xmas lights versus the newer LED versions. So maybe instead of saying "yellowish" I should have said "warmer". Anyway...I WANT ONE!

It's a Day-Date. They don't make a "ladies" day-date, not to my knowledge anyway. Were you asking simply because it has a diamond bezel?

Great pics. Yea, this is one of those colors of the metal and warmth that dont always show up in pics. In person, those that know, know right away what they are dealing with.
Its a obvious distinction between PM and SS. I always said that platinum is a luxury you buy for you as the world will assume its SS.

Which didn't stop me, and won't stop me again, but when people regurgitate the usual pablum about how It's harder to machine and a much purer alloy, the price is simply on no way justified by those things. |
