The OFFICIAL GMT Master and GMT Master II Owner's Thread

Picked up this beauty last week after looking for a long time. Came with both bracelets and love it on the Jubilee. The perfect watch for my job!

The size of that photo is way too large.
Before entering a link or uploading make the photo 1250 pixels wide maximum.

I've forgotten that some photo's don't do the auto-sizing, will fix immediately!

Edit: Can't fix, no edit option is available.

Does the date change at different times every day? It happens about 00:02-00:04 for me, and never at the exact same time. is this normal?

Welcome Home!

It is tough to beat the service and quality of work from Rolex Service in New York. I got this 16710 in 1999 to replace a 16760 "Fat Lady" that was stolen that year. I had purchased the "Fat Lady" in St. Thomas, USVI in 1984.
As US Navy carrier aviator, my GMTs have endured tough duty around aircraft, ships, and around the world. With the 24 hour hand always set to GMT, or Zulu Time Zone, it was always easy to keep local time on the watch and role the bezel to the time back home when I got a chance to call! Built like a tank!
I've got a great picture..looks brand new... but know how to get it on the forum from my iMac!

GMT Master Thread For Sure

Hey Fellers! I have one of the new Pepsi GMT II's. First Rolex in a long time. Was very hesitant to go for the gold because of the weight and potential A-hole factor, but after looking at it for awhile decided to take the plunge. I really like the subtle difference in the color of the metal, also the crystal is flatter than on the other new GMT's, which I'm on the fence about

Hey Guys, I've seen a couple of supposedly unworn 2007/08 GMT II pepsi's on Chrono24 and other places for approx. $25k. Is that an outrageous price?

Supply demand, I guess there may be someone willing to pay that much. I would keep looking.

I am in with a BLRO - what a great piece!

I spent some time reading through comments from owners of the 116719BLRO and considering it. Had the 16710 and 16750 Pepsi and loved the look of vintage but I've always wanted a PM watch. I would like to thank all of the members who took time to post their photos, experience and opinions on vintage vs 6-digit GMTs and the BLRO, in particular. The blue and red color was something I was concerned about. Your photos helped me. I visited my AD several times. Today, with the BLRO in hand, I am very pleased - no regrets. The heft is satisfying and the weight is not a burden to me (versus SS). Some describe the white gold BLRO as having a warmth to it, and I see that as well. Had a Batman last week and so the comparison is fresh for me. I really wanted a PM Rolex and YG is just not for me. Had the Rose Gold YM for one day and traded it. The BLRO will hold me.... for a while. Like so many others, here, my eye strays...

Included are 2 pics which represent the colors as I see the colors, today. I did notice that under some artificial light the blue may look purple. Both colors are muted and definitely change based on lighting.

Can't get enough of this one. Kinda wish I could just swap this and the LVc day to day. Time to purge others from the collection!

GMT II BLNR vs. LN

I guess this is the right place to raise this (old?) question: GMT II BLNR vs. LN
Undecided, I listed some pros (+) and cons (-), in my opinion:

BLNR
Presence
+ colorful, catchy, joyful
- bit cheesy, flashy, tiresome in the longer term
Usability
+ sporty
+ the dual color scheme makes it easier to read the AM/PM time of the GMT hand
- less flexible to combine with different color clothes
- may not go well with formal attire
Long term value
+ currently sells at premium
- a possible S. Steel “pepsi” version will steal its allure
General Aspects
+ trendy, nickname denotes its popularity

LN
Presence
+ discreet, elegant, timeless
+ looks like a Sub
- bit dull
- looks like a Sub (yes, + and -)
Usability
+ sporty
+ can be used with formal attire
+ flexible
Long term value
+ just regular
- just regular
General Aspects
+ classic
- chaste

Although many think that Rolex would not irk its premium clients who have bought the precious metal version of the GMT “pepsi” introducing a stainless steel version, the recent Sky Dweller case shows otherwise. Should that be likely to happen, it may be better wait.

Another good reason to wait: they might well fit it with the newest 32XX mechanism soon.

Back to the choice, naturally it’s up to personal tastes and style. But, I’d like to hear different points of view. Thanks!

I've had both LN and BLNR and prefer the BLNR better. I found the blue did not make it much less versatile. I liked it so much I did not worry about color matching.

Yes ^^^

I just sold my LN as it was NOT getting any wrist action since the BLNR turned up.
